"While robots have been commonplace on car productions lines for decades, it is only in the last few years that they have started performing significant work at aircraft assembly sites."
- MRO Network
"If we're going to limit climate change this century, we need to electrify everything. That includes air travel, a large and rapidly growing source of some of the most potent greenhouse gas emissions. Yes, high-speed rail could displace some fights, but for longer journeys, travelers will clearly still have to take to the skies."

"Since a solo flight by the Wright brothers on the shore of North Carolina more than a century ago, the size of airplanes has gone in one direction - up. But the era of ever larger jets, and the romantic idea of continent-hopping travel they inspired, came to an unofficial end with the announcement by Airbus that it plans to cease production of the A380, the largest passenger airliner ever built."

Association Update
From Amy Bann, AFRA Vice President
|
Dear AFRA Members,
I hope everyone is having a productive and successful season. We look forward to the annual meeting in Montreal this summer to see each other in person and enjoy the lovely city.
We are pleased to announce that AFRA has launched a new Research and Development project. The joint collaboration will be led by ENVISA, a global environmental consulting company specializing in sustainable aviation, to develop a set of metrics for aviation recycling and reuse. We will create methodology that will capture categories and data that can help showcase our members' impressive activities. We identified a gap in available tools in this sector that can convey the successes with more standardized data sets to measure progress. We then solicited proposals for partners, selecting ENVISA for its expertise and experience in similar projects. The project kicked off in mid-February with an aim to conclude in late September. The project's resulting metrics will be available for use by AFRA members as a valuable tool to highlight activity and build upon. If you are interested in participating, please contact Laura Dwulet
to join the R&D Committee.
AFRA committees are a great way to get involved more and have influence at an industry level. Please consider having someone in your company join the government affairs, communications, BMP development, or research and development committees. Below are updates on each one's activities in the past month.
Best regards,
Amy Bann
