Editor's Note:  This article provides an overview of scientific evidence to weigh the medical benefits of marijuana use for cancer, chronic pain, alcoholism and drug addiction, depression, PTSD, MS and epilepsy against associated health risks. It concludes that despite the recent emergence of very comprehensive, up-to-date reviews of the scientific studies evaluating the benefits and harms of cannabis, more research is needed.
