Winter, Summer, We've Got the Beat...

Wow, this week has had a little bit of everything in terms of weather and unexpected surprises, but along side all of that, there's been so much work accomplished. Seems like everyone is now primed and ready for a restful and adventure-filled week to recharge and refresh!

Sending a special shout out to DJ Ron who, along with Ms. Colleen and the Dance Club Committee put together a fantastic dance...Family donations and parent helpers helped bring it all together. Pardon the pun, but the dance has gotten GLOWING reviews! Adults, if you don't get the pun, ask a Mill Falls Student!

This week we also welcomed two new members to our staff. Our new Music Instructor, Cassandra Pepler, started on Thursday. Cassie has 7 years of experience working in NH public schools teaching general music and directing choral ensembles. She currently  teaches private piano and offers preschool music and movement classes. Cassandra also maintains an active performance schedule and serves as a clinician, adjudicator, accompanist, and guest choral conductor for music festivals and camps. This week she  worked with children from our Upper and Lower Elementary Programs working with rhythm and song to familiarize herself with the children's understanding of music in preparation for the work she will do with them for the remainder of the year.

We also welcomed  back Kristin Ross to our staff. She has joined the Zion Team as Assistant Teacher, following Ms. Joelle's departure last week to spend more time with her young daughter. Kristin received her Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Western Connecticut State University and her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Southern New Hampshire University. This is Kristin's third year coaching the Auburn Village School's Middle School Cross Country Team. Last year, Kristin worked in the Kinder Room, as a paraprofessional in Denali, and as a substitute as needed. Kristin lives in Merrimack with her husband, their son Mason, and their dog.

Montessori in Motion
The Winter Olympics have captivated many, and provided plenty of learning opportunities. Recently, in our Kinder AfterCare Program, Ms. Kristin and Ms. Kayla had some fun with the children, running a luge created out of a rain gutter and lego people! The children made medals and tried out laminated paper skis (look carefully at the feet, below right).
