The Buzz
Here's what happened in November!
Simply Bee Owner, Audrey Grunst spoke to a group of women in the mental health profession at WAAT's monthly meeting. Her presentation - Breaking Barriers and Reaching your Goals -provided insights and strategies to build confidence and create a plan of action for women who want to be leaders in their business and personal lives.
Simply Bee's yoga instructor, Stephanie Bersh RYT 200, answered audience questions following the screening of the documentary Finding Kind at the Gorton Community Center. The movie showed how bullying is evolving and the life-threatening impact it can have on girls today. Stephanie talked with parents to discuss their concerns related to these issues and provided suggestions for helping our girls find "kind".
On November 7th, our registered dietitian, Teresa Romano spoke to kids at Quest Academy about dispelling the myths of “healthy” eating. There is so much nutrition information out there and sometimes it’s hard to know which information is valid and which claims have been exaggerated. Teresa spoke about the importance of balance, variety and moderation to support overall lifelong health and explore the science and research behind common nutritional claims of “good” vs “bad” food.
On November 6th, Audrey Grunst spoke to a group of new teachers at Glenbrook South High School about managing anxiety in the classroom. Audrey provided easy-to-implement techniques that teachers can incorporate on a daily basis.
On November 13th, Audrey spoke to the parents of District 128 students at Vernon Hills High School. She discussed ways to manage students stress and anxiety in our ever competitive society. Audrey looks forward to continuing this conversation in January when she stands in front of 1,500 VHHS students in an all-day workshop through D128 DARING program.
