Plastic Straws
Two weeks before the start of turtle nesting season, the Town Council last month agreed to move forward with a previously approved (but never implemented) ban on single-use plastic bags. The council also passed by consensus a plan to begin the process of banning plastic straws.

To protect endangered sea turtles which nest on local beaches and the hatchlings which come from those nests, the Town Council adopted an ordinance requiring all oceanfront property owners to ensure that their lights are not visible from the beach anytime from March 1st through October 31st.

The overhead utility lines near President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club could be removed and replaced with buried lines by the end of 2020, a town official said. Mar-a-Lago falls within the area targeted for the next construction phase of the burial of all overhead power, cable television and phone lines on the island.

Palm Beach Post Building
Tricera Capital paid $24 million for the Palm Beach Post campus in West Palm Beach, where it's planning a mixed-use retail and office project called "The Press." Cox Media Group affiliate Palm Beach Newspapers sold the 360,000-square-foot office and warehouse property 2751 South Dixie Highway to Tricera, led by Ben Mandell and Scott Sherman.
