Principal's Message

Murwood Families,

Please help us congratulate Rachel Villalba, Murwood's Teacher of the Year 2019.  Rachel tirelessly advocates for her students and continues to provide a warm, welcoming environment for all.

Congratulations are also due to Nancy Kaye, our fantastic Office manager who is our Employee of the Year.  Nancy seamlessly transitions among student care, clear office management and procedures and staff support.

We are so proud to partner with these two outstanding employees who make our school a better place every day.

Book Swap Ends March 7

In celebration of Read Across America, we will be having our first  Murwood Book Swap. Until this Friday, students can bring in gently used books that are no longer wanted. For each book they donate they will receive a ticket that they can exchange for other donated books.  The swap will be held in the library. Students can shop during lunch, class library time and after school.  Please contact Kelly Durflinger if you have any questions.
Science Fair
March 14, 6-7:30 PM

The Science Fair is fast approaching.  Students can bring their finished projects to the MPR after  school on Wednesday, March 13th or before school Thursday, March 14th.  The Science Fair will take place the evening of Thursday, March 14th from 6:00 - 7:30.  All students must be accompanied by a parent. No playground supervision will be provided, so pelase stay with parents.

Come enjoy dinner and dessert from one of the food trucks that will be there!

Participating scientists are asked to stand by their boards just long enough for one of the evening's "questioners" to ask about their project. After that, they are free to leave their board and explore the other projects. If you stay until 7:30, you may take your projects with you Thursday evening, if you leave early boards must be collected by Friday morning. We are looking forward to seeing all you have discovered!

NEEDED!  "QUESTIONERS"  No Experience is necessary!  We need adults to ask our students questions about their projects.  You will only need to be a "questioner" for about 30 minutes and can enjoy the rest of the fair!  Please contact Mrs. Sicotte at  [email protected]  if you are interested!
Multi-Cultural Night

Please join the Murwood PTA and the 5th Grade class on March 28th from 5:30-7 for our Multi-cultural Night Celebration.  We invite everyone to prepare a dish to share with the room, something traditional or a family favorite (please label, including your name, dish name, and ingredients).  Our diversity is what makes Murwood the beautiful, inclusive community that we are, and we'd like to take a night to celebrate together.  Students' Heritage posters will be displayed.

This is a terrific, family-fun filled, community evening. We are looking forward to seeing all of you there.

Crab and Pasta Feed Auction

Thank you again to everyone who participated in this year's Crab & Pasta Feed Auction. The online auction has closed but there are still Class Projects, Sign-Up Parties and a few Teacher Treats that can be purchased offline. Check the PTA bulletin board for Sign-Up Party details and the sign-up sheet. Contact your teacher for Class Projects and Teacher Treats. We will also still take general monetary and Fund-A-Need donations online until the end of March.  Click here to continue supporting this fundraiser.

For those that purchased auction items and have an outstanding bill to pay, invoices were sent out last week and again on Monday for you to review and approve. Please look it over to make sure all items are accurate and respond to the email if the credit card on file is ok to charge or if you are able to bring in a check to the school office. Once payment is received, items will be available for pick up in the school office or from Jen Barnes' house.

As always, please contact Jamie O'Reilly or Jen Barnes at [email protected] if you have any questions.
