I am a parent of a 1st grader at Oak and help keep the Oak uniform  closet decluttered and organized on a weekly basis. Listen up (tired/busy) Oak parents:

Any families that don't have time or transportation to come by and grab clothes out of the uniform  closet for their child I'm offering to pack a bag for you and send it home with your child or you can fetch it off my front porch in South Hyde Park (no guarantees you may get what you want -- totally based on what's in there). Parents can text or email me:

1) Parent name
2) Full name of Oak child and teacher/grade
3) Preferred size(s) and items and # needed (i.e. boy/girl, size 5 thru 16,  khaki pants or skirt or red or blue or white long sleeve shirts (polo or button up), sweaters, sweatshirts, leggings, socks etc).

The closet is full (esp tops) and we'd love it to get used!

Please don't hesitate to reach out. And if you have things to donate, drop them off at the front desk. The uniform closet is always open and unlocked (yellow door north end next to Shum/1st classroom) for any parent to peruse during school hours.

Thanks,
Sally King 816-699-3109

P.S. A note from Missy Bailey the Cherry uniform closet organizer: Attention Cherry parents -- please donate any unneeded uniforms! Donations are low! Drop at the front desk. Thanks!

Oak Book FairBookfair

old_hard_cover_books.jpg Oak Book Fair
October 22 - 25, 2018, Oak Auditorium

Our beloved book fair is returning to Oak this month! All proceeds support our building's library, with funds for both French and English titles. All Oak students will have an opportunity to attend with their English classes on either Monday or Tuesday of that week; specifics for your child's class came home this week. Check your teachers' memos for info, if needed. If you like, you may send cash or a check with your child that day and offer them the opportunity to make their own selections, as well as work within a budget! Teachers and parent volunteers will be available to assist. Parents please take a moment to stop by during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday; you will have a chance to peruse your teachers' wish lists for your child's classroom, as well as pick up a book or two for your collection at home.

As always, volunteers are needed and appreciated! If you're interested in helping, click here! All book fair hours are posted in our Facebook event page.

Cherry families and teachers, don't fret! Cherry will host a book fair in the spring to support that building's library.

We did a walk through at the beautiful Armour Campus to realize that as much as we want to have our new year at the new campus, due to logistics and timing it is a bit more challenging.

When something works so well for 6 years no sense in changing it now. We plan to carry on with the 7th Annual Holiday Art Market as we have before at the wonderful Cherry Street Campus.

This will be familiar to the artists and shoppers alike and we appreciate the AL teachers and admin being so helpful and flexible with us each year!
