,

I never thought I would be telling you all that I have written a book, but it's true. ' Get Running' is out now in bookshops/online and already it's up with the bestsellers!

So that's my excuse for not getting a February newsletter out to you all. It has been a busy time of a different kind with TV and Radio keeping me busy the last few weeks.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to the book launch and indeed to everyone who has picked up a copy. I really hope you all enjoy it.

But now ' Get Running ' is finally complete, there will be lots more time for planning new running classes, holidays, workshops and events for the 2019 year ahead.

Our 2019 Running Plans

Already in the calendar are day trip running and yoga adventures and a west cork running holiday. We are keeping up our running classes and workshops with some fun pop-up classes too. We hope we have something to help you enjoy running more, whatever level you are currently at and wherever you wish to take your running.

Running Classes

Our Spring class term kicks off on the 25th March and it will bring us right up to the June bank holiday. This will be the last chance for beginners until the autumn to get start and it will be our first time in a while to have daylight at classes!!

Thanks for the Feedback

If you are not sure about what we do, and how we do it, have a read here of some recent reviews. Thank you to everyone who has sent on such lovely feedback on being a part of ForgetTheGym.

Since our Last Newsletter

Despite great intentions of this newsletter being out on the 1st Feb, we have had so much on that it crept down the to-do list. Aoife took a gang well out of their comfort zone at the indoor track at the National Sports Campus while another group came along to my First Time Half Marathon Workshop.

We have had 6 great weeks of our new year running classes with marvelous crisp and still evenings all to ourselves along the coastal paths (and only a few wet nights)! We have had adventures at parkruns, races and a few Chi Running workshops.

We have had wonderful running milestones and celebrations at parkruns and other events. We even had a night out at the Book Launch. See the photos

I have kept up my writing with fortnightly pieces in The Irish Times and in the past few weeks have been out on the TV and Radio spreading the word about my new book.

The only down side of the past few weeks is that we said goodbye to Coach Anne who has moved on from coaching with us to focus on new projects, her own running and a new venture into running tours. We wish Anne all the very best in the future and no doubt our paths will cross (even if we wont be able to keep up with her)!
A Year in 6 Minutes
We have had great fun reminiscing about 2018, the achievements, surprises, laughs and scenic spots on our running adventures. From classes to workshops, getaways to marathons, we have compiled a selection of photos of our 2018 coaching memories. Check it out if you missed it on our Facebook page.
Writing about Running

In The Irish Times I have written about the following over the last few weeks

And of course, if you prefer to read in a book format than a newspaper, Get Running is available online and in bookshops. Get Running gives you tips, advice and motivation on how to get running, keep running and most importantly enjoy running long into the future. Packed with pictures and quotes from some of our running students, you are sure to recognise a few faces inside.

Springtime Inspiration

We have a few more things going on. Here is a preview...

Running Getaways

This July I will lead this 4 day getaway running retreat to my favourite coastal location on the Wild Atlantic Way, Beara Peninsula in West Cork. If you can’t wait that long, we will also have some Day Getaways to locations a little closer to home this Spring which will combine running, scenery, food and yoga.

Pop Up Events

Our popup classes have always been sellouts and they are open to everyone on our private Facebook Group. The next one is this Sunday when Aoife will lead an indoor track speed session at the National Sports Campus . Yes, you can feel like a true athlete on the 200m track while working at your own pace. Keep an eye on the Facebook Group for booking. Aoife as 2 more dates later this spring if this Sunday is too short notice.

Don’t get injured

You won’t be able to keep on enjoying running if you are always getting injured. So make sure to look after your running body this year. If you have not paid enough time to technique in recent years, consider a Chi Running Workshop which shows you how to make running less effort and more enjoyable. I have one per month scheduled and for €25 it will save you plenty money that you could have to spend on physio bills. Prevention is for sure better than cure.

A new parkrun a month

Aoife is leading the gang on hitting the road and taking part in a new parkrun each month. Our plan is to encourage you to try a new parkrun, one which is easily accessible but not part of our usual schedule. If you know a parkrun we should try out, let us know. With Tymon and Tolka Valley completed in Jan and Feb, plans are underway for a March one. We would love and many of you as possible to join us.

Long Distance Goals

If you are looking to move beyond 10k this year, my first time half marathon workshop take place on Sunday 8th May. If you fancy running twice that distance, our popular Dublin Marathon Coaching programmes are also all open for booking.

Over to you...
I don't know about you, but I feel January and February have flown by this year. Don't let another month go by without planning what you would like to achieve with your running this year and get the groundwork in early. Spring is certainly in the air and there is no better time to start than today.

Best of luck with it all.
