It is scorching these days!

Hello,

It IS scorching these days and i t is not just the outside temperatures that are increasing. Across Pima County, there is a growing awareness of the issues facing residents and the actions taken by politicians and bureaucrats on behalf of them.

Fortunately, the increased scrutiny is shedding more light than heat. That is the express purpose of my updates - to shed light on the issues. I hope you find that to be the case.

New Feature: Pundits - Politicians - Public Servants

Here in Pima County, we have a wealth of pundits, politicians, and public servants. Today, we are featuring Wake Up! Tucson:

Gary Davidson and Wake Up! Tucson host Chris DeSimone discuss Pima County politics.

According to DeSimone, their "discussion is based on Huckelberry's (Pima County Administrator) own memos. DeSimone invites all to "give it a listen and experience the pathetic-ness (not real word) of it all."

DeSimone asks viewers of the video to hear Davidson address the percent of failed/poor roads in Maricopa County as compared to the same in Pima County.

Volunteer Opportunities:

My office has the opportunity to invite residents of Pima County to get an up-close look at our government while serving as watchdog members of various commissions and committees.

To date, I have been blessed with constituents who have made the sacrifice to serve those commissions and committees. Their time, wisdom, and energy on behalf of my office and all Pima County residents are both invaluable and much appreciated.

Currently, spots on the following committees and commission are open:

Community Law Enforcement Partnership Committee (2 spots)

Regional Wastewater Reclamation Advisory Committee (1 spots)

Deadline To Submit Statements

On Road Bond Is Today - July 24

State law requires every jurisdiction placing ballot questions before voters send all households in the jurisdiction with a registered voter a publicity pamphlet that explains the ballot question and include arguments submitted by the public for and against the question.

For Proposition 463, the $430 million Regional Road Reconstruction, Preservation and Repair Bond, the public can submit arguments between July 9 and July 24. Arguments can be no longer than 300 words and must be received by the Pima County Elections Department by no later than 5 p.m. July 24. There is a $100 fee required and must be in the form of cash, check or money order payable to the Pima County Elections Department.

The arguments must include the name or names of each person sponsoring the argument. Arguments must be mailed or submitted in person, to the Pima County Elections Department, 6550 S. Country Club Road, Tucson AZ 85756. Mailed arguments must be received by the Elections Department before the 5 p.m. July 24 deadline.

The publicity pamphlet will be mailed to all registered voter households before Oct. 2. The election is Nov. 6.
