Biodiversity Conservation RFP
The World Heritage Animal Genomic Repository & Veterinary Institute Global Biodiversity Conservation Initiative is seeking initially a volunteer commission from the Architectural Community to assist in developing an RFP for circulation in a call to Architects who would like to submit designs for consideration in the development of the WHAGR & VI Legacy Center in KY. This world class biodiversity conservation center, to be built in Mt. Sterling, KY, will be built to showcase green and sustainable products and technology and serve as a Genomic and Veterinary teaching institute. Learn More

Three new chapters have been added to the AIA Global Practice Primer, covering human resources, technology in practice, and sustainability. The Global Practice Primer is designed for architects who are either considering the pursuit of projects abroad or are already engaged in international work.

In February, EOP Architects announced the promotion of Ben Simmons, AIA (Louisville office), Daniel Ware, AIA (Lexington) and Kevin Gough, AIA (Lexington) to principal. The firm also promoted Matthew Schultz, AIA (Louisville) to associate. We congratulate each of them on this significant achievement!

EP/NCARB News
NCARB has issued sanctions for eight candidates who violated the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) Candidate Agreement. As a reminder, all exam candidates must follow the ARE Candidate Agreement, which outlines the policies around ARE confidentiality. Candidates who violate the agreement are subject to serious repercussions.
More information about the disciplinary actions taken by the NCARB Board of Directors can be found on the NCARB website.
AIA Partners with BenchPrep to Create New ArchiPrep Program
The American Institute of Architects is partnering with BenchPrep to revamp its Architect Registration Exam (ARE) prep courses and help accelerate the process for architecture graduates to qualify for licenses. Read More

On Friday, March 29, the Department of Historic Preservation will hold its annual symposium, titled "Historic Preservation and Sustainability: Beyond the Greenest Building." The event will be held in the UK Athletics Auditorium in the William T. Young Library. More Info

The Last Word
I am very excited to be in Washington, D.C. today with representatives from all three of Kentucky's local components! We are attending AIA's annual Grassroots Conference, where chapter leaders from all over the U.S. gather for extremely valuable training and conversations about what is happening in our profession across the Institute. In addition, we had the opportunity to spend a day on Capitol Hill advocating for issues like Energy Efficiency and School Safety.
Government affairs- at the state, local and federal level- is an extremely valuable member benefit and being able to speak with policy makers on behalf of our profession has been a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience. We hope that you will follow along on social media for additional updates on what's happening at the conference this week and consider getting involved with some of the other issues that we are working on closer to home.
Architects are problem solvers and your voice is an extremely valuable asset!
In the meantime, we thank you for being a part of AIA Kentucky and appreciate the opportunity to advocate on your behalf.
