- The proposed Vegetation Management Ordinance, which would require eliminating most vegetation within 3 feet of homes.
- Evacuation Plans.
- Emergency Communications.

City Council Approves One Travel Lane Configuration for the Parkway Room Portion of Miller Avenue
At their March 4, 2019 meeting, the Mill Valley City Council considered a recommendation for the permanent roadway and parking configuration for the Parkway Room portion of Miller Avenue, from Millwood Street to Willow Street.

Improvements to Depot Building to Kick Off Soon
In the coming weeks, Mill Valley Depot Bookstore and Café owner Paul Lazzareschi and his team will embark on a renovation of the City-owned building at 87 Throckmorton Avenue that it calls home.

Mill Valley Arts Commission PaintBox - Call for Designs
The Mill Valley Arts Commission welcomes local artist to submit designs for murals on City Utility Boxes around town as part of our PaintBox Program.
The aim of this project is to highlight local artists within our community and, in doing so, brighten up the streets, beautifying utility boxes and deterring vandalism. Submission deadline is Friday, March 15th by 5pm. Learn more click here

Project to Improve Downtown Infrastructure Continues with Pavement Testing, Surveys of Underground Facilities
In recent weeks, work crews have conducted pavement testing in the Downtown area, as a part of the initial phase of the Downtown Project. The Downtown project includes repaving the roadways, upgrading the sanitary sewers and improved pedestrian access ramps. Learn more.

City Passes Measure A Compliance Audit with "No Findings"
The City recently received notice that it has completed the Transportation Authority of Marin's (TAM's) 2018 Measure A ½-Cent Transportation Sales Tax funded projects/programs compliance audit process. The City received a clean audit with no findings.

David Gilmore, CERT member since 2017 and Life Scout with Mill Valley's Troop 1 , is making great headway on his Eagle Scout Project of converting the Mill Valley CERT Trailer from a storage container into a fully functional Mobile Incident Command Station.

SLP 214 Cleaned Up and Ready for Use
Winter storms take a toll on our Steps, Lanes and Paths. The water that rushes down the staircases washes away the gravel leaving a battered path that can be dangerous to walk up and down. Thank goodness we have our group of volunteers,
Friends of the SLPs. Every month on the second Saturday they work tirelessly to repair our well used trails and make them safer and more accessible.

Batter up! It is getting close to Opening Day 2019 for Mill Valley Little League. On Saturday March 16, 2019, Mill Valley Little Leaguers will be participating in their annual parade. To kick off Opening Day, the parade will stage at 8:30 AM at Old Mill School (352 Throckmorton Avenue). At 9:00 AM, the parade will commence and travel north on Throckmorton toward E. Blithedale, onto E. Blithedale, across to Sunnyside Ave., and end at Boyle Park.

Planning Commission Meeting - February 12, 2019
The Planning Commission considered the following:
- 765 E Blithedale Avenue - Conditional Use Permit to allow for a dine-in cafe in the commercial building at 761-775 E. Blithedale Avenue located within Alto Center. The proposed hours of operations are 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. This item was continued to to the February 26, 2019 Planning Commission meeting.
- 13 Escalon Drive - Study Session for Design Review & Accessory Dwelling Unit. Request to demolish an existing residence and build a new 4,853 sq. ft., three-story home with a new attached 777 sq. ft. Accessory Dwelling Unit, decks, pool, and spa. The Planning Commission provided feedback and direction to the applicant; the project will return to the Planning Commission with revised plans.

City Council Meeting - February 21, 2019
Council:
- Received the Parks and Recreation Commission annual report.
- Adopted Resolution No. 19-09 authorizing the City Manager to award a Construction Contract to Sandstone Environmental Engineering Inc. and adopted a Budget Adjustment of $141,279 for 2017 storm damage repairs.
- Adopted Resolution No. 19-10 authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with Quality Painting and Sandblasting to restore the reclaimed water tank in the amount of $48,886.
- Adopted Resolution No. 19-11 Confirming Alan Piombo, the Mill Valley Police Chief as a Governing Board member of the Marin Emergency Radio Authority and appointing alternate delegates.
- Adopted Resolution No. 19-12 approving an all-way stop control at Buena Vista and Hill.
- Introduced and waived first reading on an ordinance amending Title 20 (Zoning) of the Mill Valley Municipal Code and adopted Resolution No. 19-13 approving amendments to the Single-Family Design Review Guidelines and Design Review application.

Planning Commission Meeting - February 26, 2019
The Planning Commission considered the following:
- The Commission presented a resolution of appreciation to Riccardo Capretta for his service on the Planning Commission.
- 765 E Blithedale Avenue - A Conditional Use Permit request to allow for a dine-in cafe in the commercial building at 761-775 E. Blithedale Avenue located within Alto Center. The proposed hours of operations are 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. This item was approved by the Planning Commission.
- 107 Sunnyside Avenue - Design Review application in connection to the demolition of the existing dwelling with an attached 440 square foot garage, and construct a 2,129 square foot 2-story dwelling with an attached 547 square foot garage below, and various site improvements. This item was continued to a date uncertain.
- 140 Edgewood Avenue - Study Session for Design Review & Accessory Dwelling Unit. Request to demolish four existing residential structures and two sheds and build a new 3,921 sq. ft., three-story home with an attached 452 sq. ft. Accessory Dwelling Unit, and a 537 sq. ft. garage with decks, patios, and pool. The Planning Commission provided feedback and direction to the applicant; the project will return to the Planning Commission with revised plans.

City Council Meeting - March 4, 2019
The Council:
- Received the City's General Fund Quarterly Report through December 31, 2018.
- Approved a letter from the Mayor in support of H.R. 530, the Accelerating Wireless Broadband Development By Empowering Local Communities Act.
- Conducted a second reading of an ordinance modifying Title 20 ("Zoning") of the Mill Valley Municipal Code amending the definition of "existing grade"; definition of "effective lot area"; and clarifying regulations for accessory building or structure(s) and outdoor dining areas.
- Adopted a Resolution making appointments to the City's Emergency Preparedness Commission, Planning Commission and the Parks and Recreation Commission.
- Adopted a Resolution approving an addendum to the initial study/Mitigated Negative Declaration and approving a modification to the Miller Avenue Streetscape Plan's roadway configuration in the "Parkway room" segment of Miller Avenue from Millwood Street to Willow Street.

The following items are scheduled for the March 12, 2019 Planning Commission meeting::
- 58 Hillcrest - Study Session for Design Review. The application proposes to construct a new 3,890 square foot, three-story single family home with a detached two-story accessory building comprised of a 624 square foot two-car garage and 569 square foot accessory dwelling unit on an undeveloped 22,734 square foot parcel.
- 237-241 Summit Avenue - Design Review - Request to demolish structures and build a new 3,788 sq. ft., two-story home with a detached, two-story, 472 sq. ft. garage with a 640 sq. ft. Accessory Dwelling Unit above, on a 19,229 sq. ft. lot.
