THE PUPPIES ARE HERE!!!
Our beautiful beagle mix, Princess Diana, gave birth to her royal litter Wednesday, August 5. We excitedly welcomed a healthy and cuddly 6 boys and 4 girls to the world. As befitting a princess, her puppies have all been given names from royalty--William, Harry, George, Louis, Archie, Edward, Catherine, Meghan, Charlotte and Zara.

The pups are now almost 4 weeks old. Eyes are open and they are starting to toddle around. It may still be another 6-7 weeks before they will all be fully vetted and ready to go to their forever homes. If you are interested in adopting one of these babies, you may go ahead and fill out an online application. We will not be processing any of the applications for them until closer to time for adoption. Also, we will not be holding or reserving any of the pups ahead of time. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this matter.
LEARN PET CPR AND SUPPORT OKK9

Ozarks Kat and K9 has teamed up with Red Cape CPR for a unique fundraising opportunity. We are co-hosting two VIRTUAL Pet CPR and First Aid certification courses where a portion of the registration cost will be donated to our shelter.

In this 4 hour ZOOM class, you will learn how to recognize signs and symptoms of illness, take vitals, maintain wellness for cats and dogs, manage injuries and administer CPR for pets.

Curriculum for the course is designed by Pro Pet Hero and taught by Red Cape CPR, based out of Minnesota. The course includes a digital manual, 2 year certification in first aid/CPR for pets, and checklists for new puppies/kittens, disasters and wellness. Become the best health ally for pets and replace panic with knowledge!

To register visit the Red Cape CPR website and select one of the OKK9 co-hosted dates--September 30 or October 14 from 10am-2pm. Cost of the class is $70. You are encouraged to have your pets in attendance with you, but it is not required. Children under 12 years old may sit in for free with a registered student.

Even if you are unable to attend one of the classes that will directly benefit our shelter, we would still encourage you to sign up for a date that is convenient for you to learn this life-saving information. We hope that this is knowledge we will never have to actually put into practice, but you never want to regret passing up the opportunity to learn it if an emergency situation arises. The life you save may be your pet's!

OKK9 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
This is the first of a new monthly feature to honor the hard work and dedication of the people behind OKK9. Our four-legged residents depend on all of these two-legged individuals for their care every day.

This month we recognize volunteer Mary Jepson, who is starting an amazing 9th year of service in our thrift store.

In her own words from her Facebook page, Mary says "So many memories...we have seen volunteers come and go. We have been through so much together and we are all so grateful for our loyal customers who shop the store and give us donations and have become our friends."

We thank you, Mary, from the bottom of our hearts for the countless hours you have given for the benefit of the animals!

The OKK9 Board of Directors meeting is the third Wednesday of each month at 4:30pm. Meetings are open to the public. Please watch our Facebook page for location.

We will be holding board member elections in October of this year for a three year term. If you are interested in running, please send a reply email to this newsletter with a short biography and your reasons for wanting to join our cause.
ONLINE ADOPTION FORM!
Our online adoption application makes it easier for potential adopters to apply for a new family member! Click the "Adopt, Don't Shop" photo to fill out and submit the form directly from your phone or computer.
*COMMUNITY BARKS & MEOWS*
The Speed on the Water ladies did an amazing job again this year collecting donations for the shelter during the Shootout Street Party on Wednesday August 26th. They braved the heat and pandemic on our behalf to raise $716 for the animals. We can't thank these ladies enough for what they do and can't wait to work with them again at next year's event!
OUR ANIMALS THANK YOU!
