What is a legacy?
It’s something that’s
part of your history or that remains from an earlier time
. Four years at Langley will, no doubt, give your children
inspirational teachers, defining life moments and fond memories
. Whether it be participation in a sport, performing arts, clubs or the simple pleasures of lunch with friends, football games and prom,
the high school experience is part of your child’s history
.
Purchasing a leaf for the Langley Courtyard Legacy Tree
is a wonderful way to pay tribute to your student or
recognize a special team or teacher
. Or perhaps you walked the halls yourself and would like to participate! The legacy tree is being
created by students in the Tech Ed department
and will bloom into a
permanent and prominent sculpture in the Langley lobby.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to landscape and create outdoor classrooms in Langley’s three interior courtyards. Details and a link for online donations can be found below.
Today is a great day to support the school and create your own legacy at LHS!

We got the cup!
Entering the 2018-19 NVSHL championship as a 7 seed, not many people thought that the Saxons would do much damage in the tournament. But
damage was done, and history was made!
By beating Briar Woods 4-2 in the NVSHL cup final, the
Saxons Ice Hockey team became the first Fairfax county school to win the NVSHL title.
Along the way, the Saxon skaters beat two Loudoun teams, Stonebridge and Briar Woods, that had amassed 10 titles between them. A big shout out to all the students who came and cheered the team to victory!
In his
first year at the helm
, Coach
Patrick Keough
delivered Langley its first ever State title for ice hockey. Now, the Saxon skaters will face Bishop O’Connell
in
regional
qualifiers
on
March 14,
8 pm
at the
St James Sports Complex, 6805 Industrial Rd, Springfield.
The winner advances to play in Cleveland at the end of March. Briar Woods fans were loud, and O’Connell fans will be louder, so come on out and
let’s keep this thing going!

courtyard update - 40% there!
|
|
Thanks to all
the Langley families and alumni who’ve donated leaves to the Langley Legacy Tree, a beautiful wall sculpture that will soon adorn
Langley‘s lobby.
We’re approaching the halfway point of our courtyard renovation fundraising campaign, but
hundreds of leaf donations are still needed
to fund the project.
If we reach our fundraising goal, the courtyards — now just concrete and patches of grass—will include
trees for shade and foliage
, a
pond
for water habitat studies, a
sensory garden
, a
rock garden
for earth science studies,
"no-mow"
wild life areas for ecological exploration, and more!
Consider donating a leaf
(copper $50, silver $100, gold $200) or acorn ($500). You choose the engraved message! The Legacy Tree will serve as a
permanent and prominent record of generous courtyard contributors
. Leaves also make great gifts for teachers, friends, and graduates!
Visit the PTSA
website
to buy your leaf. Donate now so Wheat's Landscaping can begin planting soon! Questions or suggestions? Email
