Keeping our community informed, inspired, and connected to Jewish life in Delaware and the Brandywine Valley, in Israel, and around the world.
CEO message to the community

Friend!

Good morning. Our Jewish Community Relations Committee (JCRC) met on Monday evening under the leadership of Co-Chairs, John Elzufon and Jenn Steinberg. The JCRC is the public arm of Federation focusing on social and political advocacy efforts.

On Tuesday morning I had the privilege of attending an invitation-only program coordinated by the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA) featuring Charles Elson, a leading expert in governance who offered his perspective on board issues which can impede high performance. This exclusive event for Executive Directors and Board Chairs was generously presented by M&T Bank.

Federation's Israel & Overseas Committee met under the leadership of Co-Chairs, Michelle Margules and Gael Szymanski to discuss upcoming programming. We are excited to be bringing several films from the Rehoboth Beach Jewish Film Festival (March 13-17) to Wilmington between March 31-April 2 (see details below). Our Holocaust Education Committee (HEC) also met on Wednesday evening under the leadership of Chair, Steve Gonzer.

Last night I attended an Author Talk program Federation co-sponsored with Hagley that featured Hasia Diner, author of " Julius Rosenwald: Repairing the World." Attendees learned about the son of a peddler who took the helm of Sears, Roebuck and Company. He believed in the importance of giving in the present to make an impact on the future.

Federation has three programs this Sunday including Community Shlicha, Daniella Buchshtaber's presentation to the Temple Beth El Men's Club in the morning, our Jewish Teen Philanthropy Initiative's screening of the film, Rocky, at 4pm and One Book, One Community program at Congregation Beth Shalom at 7pm.

We Grow Stronger TOGETHER.

Shabbat Shalom ,
Seth J. Katzen
Chief Executive Officer
