We had wonderful student participation last week during "The Kindness Challenge" and many students participated in the dress up days.
Along those lines of promoting a safe, positive learning environment at Hewes, we wanted to let parents know that we recently held our bi-annual behavior expectations assemblies for all students.
During the assembly we discussed wise decision-making and choices. Examples of topics covered:
Safe internet use
Cyber bullying which includes the use of social media and memes
California Education Code and TUSD Board Policies on prohibited items such as tobacco or vapes
School appropriate language
Overall treatment of peers
Hewes implements California Education Code and TUSD Board Policies and while appropriate disciplinary action is taken when necessary, it is always confidential. Students were also reminded that while the Binder Reminder provides guidance, it does not cover all California Education or TUSD Board Policies. Still, it is a great talking point reference for parents and students at home. This assembly is one of the many components we use to promote a safe and healthy learning environment.
