Calling People of Faith and Conscience
to Reflect and Act with the
Coalition of Immokalee Workers
URGING Wendy’s to
Join the Fair Food Program
Join people of faith and conscience from across the nation on
March 7, from 12:00 noon - 12:15 PM
to pause and reflect on how farm workers continue to face
well-documented conditions of sexual violence , forced labor
and other abuses . After doing that, participate in an action
in support of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW).

This time of spiritual contemplation and action by people of faith comes as nearly one hundred farm workers and scores of students and community leaders will be preparing to march on The Ohio State University on March 8 to urge the school to cut ties with Wendy’s for its failure to put human rights on the menu. As part of the 4 for Fair Food Tour, students at four public universities have called on their schools to cut ties with Wendy’s. The University of Michigan just became the first university to declare Wendy’s is no longer welcome on campus until the fast food giant joins Fair Food Program.

In addition to reflecting, undertake any or all of these actions:  
1) Call the university chancellor or president at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Ohio State University in Columbus and the University of Florida in Gainesville and urge them to take Wendy’s off their campus.

Talking points from CIW: 
  •  Wendy’s is the last of the five major fast food corporations in the country to refuse to join the FFP, which would protect the rights of farmworkers in their supply chain.
  • The [University] has a responsibility to send a clear and unequivocal message to Wendy’s: Until you put human rights on the menu, you cannot sell food on our campus. 
  • It is urgent that more universities follow the lead of the University of Michigan and make it clear to companies like Wendy’s that real and meaningful social responsibility is a necessary part of doing business.


2) Take a store managers letter to your local Wendys. Download and print a copy HERE .

3) Sign the Boycott Wendy’s Petition .

4) Post a moral message or prayer on social media tagging @Wendys @National Farm Worker Ministry #faith4fairfood #fairfoodnation
