Lent is here, and I encourage you to take some time with your loved ones to recognize God's presence during this season. Perhaps you might designate a night of the week for a family dinner or a period of time in your day or week to go without screens. Maybe you will make time to pray or read scripture together.
Lent is also a time to intentionally confront the darkness in our world. With that in mind, I invite you to attend a special Rector's Forum for youth and adults on Sunday, March 31 with writer Sophfronia Scott and her now-fourteen-year-old son Tain Gregory. After Tain's best friend was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, they co-authored the book, This Child of Faith: Raising a Spiritual Child in a Secular World, to share how their journey of faith with the people of Trinity Episcopal Church gave them strength to endure their most challenging days. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the forum, and I encourage parents and 6th through 12th grade youth to read it together this season.
As always, there are many opportunities coming up for our youth to connect with the Body of Christ here at All Saints', and I would love to see each of you at church at some point this Lent!
As announced last week, in order to better accommodate the 6th grade choir trip to Cumberland Island, the next Attic Invasion for Grades 6 - 8 has been moved from March 15 to March 8 (tonight) from 7:00 - 9:30pm. More InfoContact Joel Smith: [email protected]
