What is ARTEC / ARTE I / RPTCS?

Advanced Regional Technical Education Coalition, or ARTEC is a Regional Professional Technical Charter school (RPTCS) that partners with Magic Valley school districts, businesses, and the College of Southern Idaho to provide professional technical classes for students in grades 9-12.

In 2018, ARTE I was created as a second charter school to increase the number of students they could accommodate, allow for expansion, and better meet the needs of its partners. ARTE I stands for Advanced Regional Technical Education - Industrial. This  January 2018 Times-News article  explains the formation of ARTE I, its programs and funding.

In 2003, Business Plus gave a $195,000 grant to ARTEC and the CSI Foundation to support workforce development in our region. ARTEC supports the needs of our region's businesses by training students with the skills they need for our region's jobs. Success of these training programs has resulted in a significant return on investment for both businesses and students.

For more information about ARTEC / ARTE I / RPTCS, visit their website, contact Director  Andy Wiseman,  or Principal  Gaylen Smyer . For more information about the Cassia Tech Center, visit their website, contact Director Curtis Richins or Debbie Critchfield.

Note that space for this meeting was limited. Our Second Quarter meeting will be held  in May in Jerome, and open to anyone interested in attending. More details to come.

New Name, Logo, Website, Newsletter and Podcasts

This year Southern Idaho Economic Development has moved away from the SIEDO acronym with a new logo, name and branding. The new logo visually shows the place and purpose of the organization with a fresh look and clear explanation of purpose.  Executive Director Connie Stopher states that the new name "should tell people, no matter where you're from, what we are and what we do."

Success starts here is the new tagline - a message that communicates the goals to help business relocation, business expansion, and talent attraction all succeed here.
