September 12, 2017

Dear Pace University Students:

As you are aware, an announcement has been made by the federal government regarding phasing out  Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in March of 2018.  Pace University supports all students regardless of their immigration status. Please see President Marvin Krislov's full statement on DACA .

The deadline to renew DACA is October 5, 2017. All students whose DACA status has/will expire between September 5, 2017 and March 5, 2018 may file to renew their DACA status in time to reach United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) by Thursday, October 5, 2017 (mailing by that date is not sufficient). There is a renewal fee of $495. Additional information is available here . Students renewing should be aware that there are sites that charge for free forms and provide incorrect advice (such as encouraging people with expiration dates after March 5 to renew). This communication contains a list of legitimate resources. All necessary forms and instructions are available free of charge on the website, www.uscis.gov by clicking on "Forms."

Tonight, September 12, in Pleasantville there will be a Campus Conversation on DACA in the Kessel Multipurpose Room from 9:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. General information about the legal rights of DACA recipients and other pathways to legal status will be available. Panelists from Westchester County and Pace will be on hand to answer questions.

Please reach out if you need assistance. The following offices are staffed with those who may be able to assist and guide students as needed:
  • Counseling Center
    • Pleasantville Campus: Administration Building, 2nd Floor, Phone: (914) 773-3710
    • NYC Campus: 156 William Street, 8th Floor, Phone: (212) 346-1526
  • Office of Multicultural Affairs and Diversity Programs: Offices in NYC and PLV can offer support and connect you with resources in the community including legal help.
  • Pace International Office: Pace International can offer support navigating study abroad, but please note, leaving the United States is not advised at this time.
Here is a link to FAQs that address questions on DACA, list available resources, and provide information that reflects our understanding of the current situation.
