Receiving New Members June 9, 2019 Sunday AM Worship

We will receive new members in Worship on Sunday morning June 9.

If you weren't able to attend the new member class, that is not a problem.  We can schedule a private "tutoring session".

Adult Ed
The Adult Education Class has concluded for the summer and will resume again in the fall.

Exciting Things are Happening Here!

- You've already noticed our new LOGO on the front page of the Trinity Trumpet. You will begin to see this on more and more of our print materials and web articles as we reach for a consistent look and feel for the Trinity "brand" . The Growth and Membership team as well as the Council have had input and we worked with a professional designer.

- Some new signage will begin to appear around the church in preparation for  June 9 and receiving many guests. These are temporary as we get a feel for what is actually needed and what works best. We're happy to receive any feedback or ideas along the way. This is part of Growth and Membership's ongoing work.

- We're developing a process for consistently posting the worship themes and sermons on Facebook and our website. Keith Dadey has purchased our new video equipment approved by Council and will have its first debut for Pentecost Sunday and the Installation service.

- The Creation Team had great success at River Day with extraordinary efforts for cleaning and sustaining our surrounding land. Some additional work is to be done soon by Boys Scouts and others, so the branches and other debris will be cleared from the grounds after that.

A Message from Scott Peterson

May was a busy month at Trinity! Undaunted by poor weather, we participated in important activities celebrating our Love of Creation. On May 4, Trinity was one of more than 60 sites around the Chicago area to host River Day. Members, friends, and neighbors from across Deerfield took part in our portion of the event. We cleared invasive plants and trees, generally cleared and cleaned up our portion of the property along the Chicago River, and planted new trees that are native to the area. It was fun, hard work, and a great opportunity for fellowship!

Following worship last Sunday, members and friends braved the rain again to spruce up the grounds around the church. Much of the focus was in planting the pots that adorn our Memorial Garden. It was a fitting activity for Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks to all who participated in these events.

This Sunday, we're going to the Dogs (literally!). We'll be making a field trip to Rosemont to take in a game between the Chicago Dogs and Sioux City Explorers. It will be a great day to enjoy the sunshine and members and friends of Trinity.

Sunday, June 9th will be an important day in the life of Trinity. During morning worship, we'll take in new members - our second time this year. Then, at 3:30, we'll formally install Rev. Dale Susan Edmonds as the third settled pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, Deerfield. Please join us for this important service and the party that will follow!

United Church of Christ - GENERAL SYNOD 32

This is the biennial meeting of the United Church of Christ where 700 delegates and 2,500 visitors gather to consider the business of the United Church of Christ. The exciting thing is that this year, the meeting will be in MILWAUKEE, WI. And adding to the excitement, our very own Jen Holz will be a delegate.
There will be an opportunity for all of you to participate in the Public Worship on Sunday afternoon, June 23rd. The Convention Hall will be open to anyone in driving distance. It really is something to experience the UCC on a wider scale and meet our members from all over the country. You'll hear more details in the near future. I have attended every General Synod (except two) since 1983.

Farmer's market
Gleanings at the Deerfield Farmer's Market
Saturday, July 6th 11:30 - 1:30

We will need 2 or 3 volunteers to help set up a tent roof and two tables at the Farmer's Market, near the Deerfield train station.   We receive unsold produce from three or four vendors, which is then distributed to food pantry clients and residents of One Deerfield Place.

Please sign up on the bulletin board in the Gathering Hall or call the office at 847-945-5050 if you are interested in helping.  For more information, see Roger Dart.  The additional date for Trinity's participation is September 7th.
