Property Owners' Association of Deep Creek Lake

Roger Titus

Dear POA Members,

It is with great sadness that I must report the passing, early this past Sunday morning, of one of our Board Members, Roger Titus. Roger was nominated as a Judge by President George W. Bush in 2003. He was appointed, and served as a Senior United States District Court Judge in Greenbelt, Maryland. He was highly respected and served with distinction. Deep Creek Lake has been the location for a second home for the Titus Family since 1976. Roger was a Past President of the POA.

Roger had been fighting Liposarcoma for some months and was hospitalized in the cardiac ICU unit at Sibley Memorial Hospital in DC with a heart issue the previous weekend.  Later this past week he was moved to a step-down unit with the hopes of gaining enough strength to participate in an NIH trial dealing with the Liposarcoma, and he was then to be moved into home Hospice Care this past Tuesday, but it was not to be.  Grandchildren and family flew in from California and Massachusetts and were with him yesterday at Sibley where he passed away in the middle of the night.

The Titus family will host a visitation on Thursday, March 7, 2019, between 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at Pumphrey's Funeral Home, 300 W. Montgomery Avenue, Rockville 20850. The funeral Mass will occur on Friday, March 8, at 10:30 a.m., at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church, 6900 River Road, Bethesda 20817; a reception will immediately follow the service at Congressional Country Club, 8500 River Road, Bethesda 20817. Burial will be private.

Our condolences go out to his wife Cathie and family.

Best Regards,

Paul Weiler
President
