Principal's Corner
Over the past couple of days there have been several discussions about social media and online safety, especially in light of recent news reports about the MoMo Challenge, in which children are reportedly being urged to perform a series of dangerous tasks, including violent attacks and suicide, in order to avoid a curse. Fortnight, PewDiePie videos, and overall online supervision also have raised concerns. Protect Young Eyes can be a valuable resource for parents, and this article has some relevant recommendations about online safety here .

Willy Wonka, Jr. Starts Friday!
by Jeannie Anderson

In anticipation of Immanual Lutheran School’s third annual spring musical, Rogers Brackmann, 88, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church who currently lives at the Holmstead in Batavia, contacted the church to share his special connection to Roald Dahl, the author of both the book and screenplay Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory , and Mr. Wonka himself, Gene Wilder. Brackmann, it turns out, was involved in the production of original motion picture Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory , directed by Mel Stuart in 1971.

Willy Wonka, Jr. will be presented at Immanual will run Mar. 8, 9, and 10. Tickets for the performance are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and kids under 5 years of age are free. The performances are at 6:30 PM on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday the performance is at 2:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at ilsbatavia.seatyourself.biz.
