Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location:

Board of Reviews

The Board of Review will meet to hear appeals by appointment only on:
  • Monday, March 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. 
  • Tuesday March 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
  • Wednesday March 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 
The board will also be in session on Wednesday, March 13 from 1:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. for mailed in appeals only.

City Council
  • The Westland City Council will hold a study session regarding Taylor Towers Refinancing on Monday, March 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Rd.  
Community Development Citizens Advisory Committee
  • The CDCAC will meet on Tuesday, March 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center, located at 32150 Dorsey St. 
Tax Increment Finance Authority
  • The monthly meeting of TIFA takes place on Tuesday, March 12 at  8:00 a.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Rd. 
Library Board 
  • The Library Board will meet on Wednesday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Westland Public Library, located at 6123 Central City Parkway. 

Blood Pressure Screening - Stop by the Westland Friendship Center for a free blood pressure screening on Wednesday, March 13.   Blood Pressure Checks are done on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. by the Westland Fire Department. It's an excellent way to keep track of your blood pressure.  Knowing there is a problem is half the battle - so keep on top of these important readings.  The Friendship Center is located at 1119 Newburgh Rd.    

PI Day - National PI Day is Thursday, March 14. In celebration the Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center is hosting a fun filled afternoon of celebrating the number that never ends. The event takes place from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It includes STEM learning, Robotics Demonstrations, Virtual Reality,  3D Printin, Hydroponice, PI- Related snacks, and Free school supply giveaways. The event is FREE of charge. The JBCVC is located at 32150 Dorsey St.

Hockey Night in Westland  - Mayor William R. Wild, along with his Westland Wild Wings, are once again getting ready to lace up their skates to challenge the Detroit Red Wing Alumni in the 10th Annual Hockey Night in Westland charity event. The event will be held on Friday, March 15 at the Mike Modano Ice Arena located at 6210 N. Wildwood St. in Westland. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and  at 6:00 p.m. our very own Westland Hockey Association Mini-Mites and Mites will take the ice to show off their skills.  The alumni pre-game fun will start at 7:00 p.m. and the puck drop will take place at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12.  (Kids 5 and under are free).  Tickets are available for purchase at the Mayor's office, the Mike Modano Ice arena and online at https://westland.ticketleap.com/2019-hockey-night/details

2019 Health and Business Expo - The Westland Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2019 Health and Business Expo on Saturday, March 16 at the Westland Shopping Center located at 35300 Warren Rd. This expo features businesses, health care providers and non-profit organizations and takes place between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. For more information, contact the Chamber at (734)326-7222.
