Anna Leininger, MS
AnnaAnna Leininger, MS , a Certified Genetic Counselor at Minnesota Oncology, was chosen from hundreds of applicants to be featured in the 2017 Code Talkers book published by Genome magazine and the National Society of Genetic Counselors. Each year, patients and their family members can nominate a genetic counselor who helped guide their recovery from a potentially devastating disease, such as cancer.

On October 17, community members, breast cancer survivors, and their supporter and caregivers gathered to learn and celebrate at Minnesota Oncology & Plastic Surgery Consultants' first-ever Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day event featuring breast reconstruction surgeon Dr. Valerie Lemaine and medical oncologist Dr. Sara Torgerson

Dr. Vijayakumar
Dr. Vijayakumar's areas of special interest include breast cancer, kidney cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, lung cancer, Multiple Myeloma, and lymphoma.


In September, 
Diaa Osman, DO,  joined our  Minneapolis Clinic  team, bringing a variety of educational and patient-care experience to Minnesota Oncology. 

Dr. Osman's areas of special interest include cancers of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, brain and spinal cords, and hematology, immune-oncology, and integrative and holistic medicine.


In addition to our newest physicians, several Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) also recently joined Minnesota Oncology:

Minnesota Oncology is pleased to introduce a new Director of Pharmacy Services, Paul Forsberg, PharmD, BCOP, MHA. Forsberg joined the practice in early October following the retirement of Jan Merriman, RPh, BCOP, after her nearly 20 years of pharmacy leadership at Minnesota Oncology. Forsberg earned his PharmD degree from the University of Montana and received his Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) in 2011 and recently completed his Masters in Health Administration (MHA) degree from the University of Minnesota.

What are clinical trials?
Clinical trials are research studies that involve people. Through clinical trials, doctors find new ways to improve treatments and the quality of life for people with disease.

Congratulations to Minnesota Oncology Plymouth Clinic chemotherapy nurse, Yana Reko, on completing the San Diego Susan G. Komen 3-day last month! Yana, a breast cancer survivor, and her husband walked 60 miles to support breast cancer research. Her daughter raised funds for the Youth Corps support team and cheered on her parents and the other walkers. We are so proud of Yana for her hard work to achieve this amazing goal in support of breast cancer patients!
NutritionforFatigueFeeling Fatigued, but still want to eat well?

During treatment, fatigue can often occur, especially as you receive additional treatments.  Continuing to receive adequate nutrition with adequate protein, fiber, and micronutrients, will help to fight off fatigue.  If you are losing weight, focus on maintaining your weight.  You will have more energy if you are maintaining weight as this is a sign that you are providing your body with enough "fuel".
