70th Street Patching Project in progress
The Contractor will be joint sealing and applying pavement markings on 70th Street between Colby Avenue and Hickman Road the week of October 22nd. Please follow traffic control signs to provide a safe work environment.  All work is weather dependent.
Sidewalk Project Update
The Contractor will be seeding and completing punch list items on 63rd Street, 64th Street and Del Matro Avenue this weekend and the week of October 22nd.  All work is weather dependent.
Flood Update
On August 22nd, we were notified FEMA denied the Individual Assistance request filed by Governor Reynolds. The Governor has vowed to appeal the denial.
While awaiting the federal process to consider funding for recovery, city staff continues to work with Emergency Operation Center and other Metro Partners to provide necessary data for the process.This is an ongoing, long-term process which regularly requires additional information gathering on the part of staff. In addition,staff is working through an "After Action" report which will document responses during the flash flooding. It will also include recovery efforts following the flash flooding to identify opportunities for improvement should another incident of this magnitude occur in the City of Windsor Heights.

Save the date! City News Hour November 12th- University Avenue Redesign
The City would like to invite the public to an input and informational meeting to be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Community Event Center. City Engineers from Bolton & Menk will provide displays,showing the layout of the proposed roadway and streetscape elements including street lighting, way-finding signage, monumentation and corridor entrance signage.This is the time for residents to come and ask questions about the project. More details about the meeting will follow in upcoming newsletters.

Drug Take-Back Day October 27th
The Windsor Heights Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The event will be hosted at the Windsor Heights Police Department, 1133 66th Street. Residents may drop off unused, expired or unwanted medications, in both pill and liquid form, for safe disposal. This includes over-the-counter as well as prescription drugs.Visit our website to see what is accepted at the drop-off. 
Beggar's Night October 30th
Beggar's Night is October 30th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. The Windsor Heights Fire Department will be handing out glow sticks around the City. 
Here are some safety tips from the fire department: 
* All Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult
* Costumes should not hinder the vision of the child
* Avoid homemade treats
* Parents inspect your children's candy
* Only Trick or Treat well-lit homes
* Adults and children should carry flashlights
