STORM JV Basketball Headed to Championships
The TABC Storm JV basketball team is headed back to the championship for the third year in a row! The Storm avenged an earlier regular season loss to SAR and knocked the Sting off 53-34 to advance to the championship game at YU this Sunday. The Storm's trademark full court press has continued to give their opponents more than they can handle. Behind the play-making skills of Noam Kinderlehrer, sharp shooting of Zevi "Buckets" Samet, and sixth man play of Ezra Baron, the team looks determined to bring home a championship for the second year in a row. TABC is proud of its student athletes and hopes to see them cap off the season with hardware!

Please join us at the championship game!

Rabbi Shlomo Zuckier Addresses
Distinguished Scholars Program
This past Tuesday, the Freshmen and Sophomores in TABC's Distinguished Scholars Program had the great privilege hearing from Rabbi Shlomo Zuckier. Rabbi Zuckier is a paradigm of a scholar in both Torah and academics, as he is currently a member of YU's Kollel Elyon while simultaneously pursuing a PhD at Yale in Ancient Jewish History. While the TABC students munched on a delicious Chickie's lunch, Rabbi Zuckier shared with them a 30 minute presentation on, "How I Researched My Dissertation, in 30 minutes" - about how his own research journey developed, and the step by step process he engaged in to come up with his PhD. He emphasized the importance of analyzing everything you read closely, and not taking the truth of any assertions made by sources -primary or secondary - for granted. He also discussed the importance of remembering your audience and writing in a way that can be understood by others, and all the while being receptive to constructive criticism and feedback. TABC's Distinguished Scholars look forward to putting many of Rabbi Zuckier's ideas into practice in their own research.
TABC Comes in a Strong Second
in Torah Bowl
Following a promising regular season, the TABC Storm Torah Bowl Team, led by captains Akiva Sturm '19 and Avrumi Davis '19, along with Shimshy Gordon '22, Ezra Lebowitz '22 and Eitan Nissel '22, traveled to Heichal HaTorah to compete in the divisional playoffs. After the MTA Lions (3) beat the Heichal Hornets (4) in the first round, the Storm (2) sat down to face the Lions. The absolutely thrilling match took multiple calls to the league's commissioner and much suspense to land itself in sudden death overtime. With the season on the line, Eitan Nissel answered the last question correctly, defeating MTA and sending the Storm to the conference finals to face the JEC Thunder (1). Although the Storm ultimately came in second, much talmud Torah was learned by each member of the team, and we support them as they continue to grow as budding talmidei chachamim.
Debate Team at Heschel
The TABC Debate Team participated in the debate held at the Abraham Joshua Heschel High School on Wednesday evening, March 6. Two teams argued in the affirmative and two teams argued in the negative regarding the resolution: All prisons in the United States should be government-run, nonprofit enterprises. TABC was represented by the following team members: Noam Barenholtz '21, David Berger '21, Aharon Goldstein '19, Alex Israel '21, Jacob Lerer '19, Tzvi Motechin '21, Asher Rauzman '21, Ari Smith '21.

All teams were impressive. We are proud to announce that our co-captains, Aharon Goldstein and Jacob Lerer, won the third-place team award arguing in the negative. Aharon Goldstein won the first-place individual speaker award, arguing in the negative.

Fair Lawn Shabbaton
We were excited that approximately 80 students joined the first ever TABC Fair Lawn Shabbaton! Our students took the community by STORM as Akiva Prager led a beautiful Kabbalat Shabbat in Congregation Shomrei Torah with dancing. After a delicious Friday night meal with Torah and Zemirot, the students heard a shiur from either Mr. Strassman or Rabbi Shaya First. The evening then moved on to an unforgettable Friday night oneg at the home of freshman, Ari Sher. In addition to enjoying great food, friends, and singing, the students had the privilege of hearing words of Torah from the legendary Rabbi Binyamin Yudin as well as the popular Rabbi Andrew Markowitz at the oneg. The Shabbaton climaxed in the home of senior, Elie Jarashow where the students united to end Shabbat with singing and words of Torah. We especially appreciate the gracious hospitality of the Sher and Jarashow families for hosting the oneg and seuda shlishit. It was additionally inspiring to see that Rabbi Hoenig's Y12 shiur all attended to spend Shabbat with their Rebbi. Overall, this was an unforgettable TABC experience. For more photos, click here.

Introductory Economics Classes Participate in a
"Fortune 500 Sales Seminar"
Last week students in the Economics and Financial Literacy classes were given a crash course in "the psychology of selling anything," by Mr. Alan Proctor, father of Avi ,('19) who is enrolled in the course, and Moshe ('17). This presentation was an introduction for the students for their units on marketing, branding and advertising techniques.

Mr. Proctor, has been in sales and marketing for thirty years. He is a former top salesperson in the nation for a division of a Fortune 500 company, and a graduate of the Wharton School of Business. He has worked for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA and been a sales trainer in San Francisco and London.

Mr. Proctor advised students that in order to be successful at selling a product, an idea, or even yourself to a prospective employer, they must initially look for ways in which to reduce people's fears and increase their perceived value of whatever you are trying to sell. He then engaged the classes in a creative  activity, culminating in a group discussion. Mrs. Reichardt and her students would like to thank Mr. Proctor for spending the day at TABC, sharing his vast experience with us all.

Junior College Night
The past Tuesday over 150 students and parents attended our College Night for juniors and their parents.  The meeting was an opportunity for parents and students to hear from the administration as well as the College Guidance office about the College Guidance Program at TABC.  Each family came away from the meeting with more information, guidance and with the extensive TABC College Handbook.  The meeting was also a kick off to individual meetings that the College Guidance Department has with every junior family.  For junior families to schedule their family college planning meeting please call Mrs. Maya Engler at ext. 600, in the office.  Prime time slots are filled on a first-come-first served basis, so we encourage you to call as soon as possible.

Snow Day Torah with Rabbi Jachter
Although school had closed for snow, learning still went on! By 11:30 a.m. Rabbi Jachter had already posted four new shiurim on  tantalizing topics in Navi ranging from "Understanding Achav's Good Deeds", "Why Eliyahu Established Two Yeshivot Instead of Just One", "Elisha Description of Eliyahu as Rechev Yisrael Ufarashav" and "The Power of Seeing One's Rebbe's Image."  Rabbi Jachter plans to incorporate his writings into a new sefer on Melachim.  Nachum Kransnoplosky has already offered to be of assistance.
JUMP Shabbaton
Last Shabbat, there was a shabbaton for NCSY JUMP, a young leadership program for high school students. DRS organized and hosted the Shabbaton, to which they invited students from other boy's yeshivot, including TABC along with a rebbi from each yeshiva.  Ezra Seplowitz, Dovid Pearlman,  Aharon Weiden,  Akiva Motechin very much enjoyed the shabbaton, whose theme was Bringing Kedusha into our Lives. Dovid Pearlman lead a beautiful Kabbalat Shabbat. Rabbi Einhorn gave a shiur on Shabbat afternoon and at seudah shlishit.

This past Tuesday, TABC alum Yitzi Rothschild who is in the States on leave, addressed the Israel Advocacy Club on his experiences serving in Tzahal.

TZVI SOLOMON '09 RETURNS TO TABC
On Tuesday Tzvi Solomon '09 decided to take off from his responsibilities as a vice-president at Goldman Sachs to recharge his spiritual batteries and join the learning at TABC.  Tzvi, also a YU alum, told us he could have spent the day at YU but wished to reconnect with his old rebbeim and experience the special TABC atmosphere.  Tzvi joined Rabbi Jachter's Navi and Mishna shiurim and Rabbi Fridman's Gemara shiur.  He also spoke briefly to Y15  and at full length to Y12.  Tzvi not only gained from the learning but the current talmidim had the opportunity to see a model of personal, communal and professional success who at the same time remains loyal to full mitzvah observance, minyan attendance and daily Torah learning.  The day was truly a win-win for both Tzvi and for the TABC talmidim (as well as his old administrators and teachers who enjoyed a golden "shepping nachat opportunity").
