The 2019-2020 Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs (DCA) Matching Grant Recommendations Released:
On Friday, October 19, Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner approved and released the 2019-2020 DCA grant recommendations for all four DCA grant-funding categories:

Even if you've already voted, you can still create greater awareness about Florida's arts, arts education, and culture industry with those elected and those who will be elected:
a. Please invest some time over the next two weeks to follow these simple ONE-PAGE 2018 Election Action Steps.
The more meaningful and timely connections throughout the year we can all make with our current and future policymakers, the better.

Quick State Budget Update -- Hurricane Michael's and Red Tide's Potential Impact on Florida's Budget
Dr. Jim Zingale has already reviewed the documents linked below on our September statewide call; HOWEVER, since that call, Hurricane Michael devastated some of Florida's Panhandle and the red-tide continues to make an appearance on both coasts.
We have received inquiries about the impact of these natural disasters on Florida's budget. J
im will quickly give us an update so we know what the potential impact on Florida's budget will be now and in 2019-2020.
First, our thoughts are with all of those who are impacted by these natural and recurring disasters. We encourage you to donate to the relief funds that you support to help our fellow Floridians recover.

AFTA on September 27 released the results of its new Ipsos Public Opinion Survey. More than 3,000 American adults over the age of 18 were polled and the new results provide the latest insight on topics that include
1. support for arts education,
2. government arts funding,
3. personal engagement in the arts,
4. the personal benefits and well-being that come from engaging in the arts, and
5. how those benefits extend more broadly to the community.
Florida was one of eight states that participated in this new survey.
