"You are never too old to set a new goal or to dream a new dream." - C.S. Lewis
Happy New Year!
The new year brings excitement for many as we set new goals and look forward to what's to come. If you're striving to make a health change this year remember to start small with a goal that is realistic and doable for your lifestyle. Goals that call for a complete lifestyle change often do not hold up as the "new year enthusiasm" fades. Try the following tips for keeping healthy in 2020.
  1. Enjoy your food!!! - keep portions small and avoid overeating
  2. Plan for healthy snacks - limit mindless eating (ie. in front of the television)
  3. Plan for at least 30 minutes of daily exercise - this can equal 3-10 minute walks throughout the day!

Home Health & Safety
Radon in the Home
January is National Radon Action Month. Radon is a colorless, odorless gas and the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The only way to know the radon level in a home is through testing. Radon test kits are available for free at the Wilkes Extension Office.

For more information on radon visit NC State Extension Healthy Homes .
