After his election in 2017, the Honorable Mark Dybul, MD (C'85, M'92), was inducted into the National Academy of Medicine at their 2018 annual meeting. Dybul, a professor in the department of medicine and faculty co-director of the Center for Global Health and Quality, was one of 80 new members elected to the Academy, which recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.

The traffic pattern through the Lombardi circle has been reduced to a single lane through Wednesday, November 7 to accommodate construction of the new MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Medical/Surgical Pavilion. Honoring his long-term dedication and leadership in support of the development of family medicine, Jay Siwek, MD, vice chair and professor in the department of family medicine, has received the John G. Walsh Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Siwek previously served as chair of the department of family medicine.
