Latinos Unidos Cultural Night
The GGUSD Latinos Unidos Cultural Night was held last Friday at Los Amigos. As always, it was a great event with all GGUSD Latinos Unidos chapters coming together for great performances, awesome activities, and delicious food!
Allen Elementary's Production of Cinderella
Have courage and be kind: Allen Elementary School students performed their production of Disney's Cinderella last week thanks to the Disney Musicals in Schools Program.
This marks the fifth year that GGUSD schools have been selected to participate in the multi-year program which provides teaching artists the first year, as well as free materials and licensing each year after.
GGUSD Student-Athlete Spotlight
The GGUSD Student-Athlete Spotlight series highlights athlete who either excel on the field, in the classroom, or around campus.

Meet Mike Carillo, BIG 4 League MVP, Orange County's leading rusher, and he was named First Team All- Orange County.
Two Fantastic Parent Groups Get Recognized
At the March 5 Board of Education meeting two of our amazing parent groups were acknowledged. The Community Advisory Committee (chaired by Verna Espinoza) and the Parent Task Force (which is chaired by one parent in each trustee area: Trustee Area 1: Andrea Perez; Trustee Area 2: Pink Lee; Trustee Area 3: Belinda Felipe ; Trustee Area 4: Aludith Mayares, and Trustee Area 5: Sara Monge) were recognized for their contributions and hard work. Their dedication to our students and GGUSD are appreciated!
Carrillo Elementary School Students Get Presidential Treatment
A few weeks ago, Carrillo Elementary School celebrated President's Day with a "presidential fundraiser" which ended in selecting a President and Vice President for the day. It culminated with a "presidential visit" by the newly elected President and Vice President, who arrived in style to the tune of "Hail to the Chief". They also visited classrooms and presented at the awards assemblies.
Read Across America Celebrated Across GGUSD
Schools across GGUSD celebrated Read Across America last week, here are some of the highlights.
Garden Park Elementary School celebrated with a full house of guests! Members of the Garden Grove Fire and Police Departments, City Council, GGUSD Board of Trustee Teri Rocco, as well as GGUSD Superintendent Dr. Gabriela Mafi and Asst. Superintendent Joli Armitage all joined in on the fun.
Trustee Walter Muneton visited students at Warren Elementary School to celebrate Read Across America! He also spent some time reading to kids.  #GGUSDPride   #ChooseGGUSD
Peters K-3 students celebrated with a Literacy Night. Complete with teachers and students dressed in pajamas! The multipurpose room had prop settings that allowed students to feel like they were in the books they were being read!  #GGUSDSPride
Pre-Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten and Full-Day Kindergarten Is Now Open!

Pre-enrollment for Fall 2019/20 full-day transitional kindergarten and full-day kindergarten classes in the Garden Grove Unified School District is now open! Parents should pre-enroll online as early as possible at  https://enroll.ggusd.us and contact their child’s home school for further assistance. Additional information about the enrollment process is available at www.ggusd.us (link). Please note that all GGUSD elementary school offices will be closed for the summer and will resume enrollment when the offices reopen for the school year. 
Run for a Great Cause
Paine Elementary School teacher Terry Shepard is putting together her 12th Annual Team Running with Todd, which runs in honor of her son Todd who passed away at the age of 18 of Ewings Sarcoma. The team will participate in the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation: Reaching for the Cure Half Marathon on Sunday, March 17, 2019.
