CAEP TAP is offering a professional development opportunity focusing on getting the best out of students by supporting teachers to do better work together.
Lesson Study is a collaborative process by a group of teachers that can by used for all content areas and across schools and systems. Lesson Study will start or refocus a professional learning community, improve learner engagement and outcomes, expand instructional and assessment skills, and increase teacher job satisfaction.
The Lesson Study Institute will consist of the following:
- A 75-minute pre-webinar - March 12, 2019
- A full-day in-person training - March 22, 2019
The in-person training will take place at:
Clovis Community College, Herndon Campus
390 W Fir, Clovis, CA 93611
Building B, Room 309
Participants are encouraged to come as teams. A team can be from one school, or a couple of schools within the consortium. A team should consist of 2 or 3 teachers, and an administrator if possible.

Wildland Fire Classes Offered at Yosemite Adult School
|

Yosemite Adult School, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service, will be offering two Wildland Fire Classes in April and May. These classes are for student who already have experience as a Wildland Firefighter.
April 29 - May 1, 2019: NWCG S-219
|
This course introduces the roles and responsibilities of a Firing Boss, Single Resource (FIRB) and outlines duties of other personnel who may engage firing operations.

May 6-8, 2019: NWCG S-215
|
This is an instructor-led course including units in firefighter safety in the interface, managing human factors in the interface, pre-incident planning, and more.

California Adult Education Program (CAEP) Preliminary 2018 Report Now Available
|
|
The California Community Colleges Chancellor and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction are pleased to present the California Adult Education Program (CAEP) preliminary report. The report is a requirement of Assembly Bill 104.
The report, based on all data available at the time, addresses the following:
- a summary of consortia annual plans funded under the CAEP
- the consortia distribution schedule
- the effectiveness of consortia
- the types and levels of services

U.S. Census Bureau Employment Opportunities

Legislative Day

Make plans to attend CCAE's Leg Day event, beginning on Monday, April 8th in Sacramento. Members and students will be converging on the Capitol to speak with their local legislators.

Salary Surfer uses the aggregated earnings of graduates from a five-year period to provide an estimate on the potential wages to be earned two and five years after receiving a certificate or degree in certain disciplines.

USA Learns - Free Online Courses in US Citizenship and English

USA Learns is a free website created by the Sacramento County Office of Education to help adults learn English and prepare for U.S. Citizenship.
The website teaches English by providing engaging videos and educational activities. Learners have the opportunity to learn English independently or with the support of their teacher.
Teachers may access the USA Learn for Teachers website that enables adult educators to easily create online courses and monitor their students' progress as they complete the activities and lessons.

Another useful tool from the Fresno County Library is the
LearningExpress Library, featuring tutorials, videos and practice tests geared toward helping learners achieve their goals. Depending on their needs, customers can explore different areas such as the Adult Learning Center, the Career Center, and the High School Equivalency Center, as well as others.

CCAE Regional Consortium Directory

CCAE is compiling a directory of the most updated adult education providers which will include primary contacts, program areas in which they deliver instruction, and total number of students served. The goal is to strengthen local sharing of best practices by creating a directory of programs that is easy to use.
