December 21st, 2018

On week four of Mt. Horeb's message series, Rejoice, we're listening to the song of heaven and taking a look at how people during the time of Jesus' birth misunderstood God's promise of a messiah and expected someone totally different. Though times have changed, the errors in our attitudes oftentimes remain unchanged. Our misunderstandings of who God is, what He has done and what He has promised still pervade much of our lives. Join us this week as we seek to learn and sing the song of heaven about our real, powerful, victorious God who gave us Jesus. We have so much to rejoice about!

Pastor Nick will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services and Pastor Trevor will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services. We'd love to see you here!

ADVENT OFFERING
On Sunday, we will take up a special offering, a sacrificial gift that will go above and beyond our tithe, to fight against human trafficking.
The money from the Advent Offering will go to two strategic partners who are working to confront this evil. One partner is local and the other is international. The local partner is an organization called Lighthouse for Life and they are in the process of opening a rescue home/safe house for children who are being rescued out of sex trafficking. Our international partner, Bethel Outreach is working in India where 200 million children are at risk.  Our hope is to be able to build them a facility.

The Compassion Experience

Coming to Mt. Horeb on January 18th-21st, this Experience is a landmark presentation visiting churches, schools, and other venues across the country. The experience immerses guests in the reality of daily life in poverty that millions of children face around the world. It brings visitors into cultures completely outside of their own. Most importantly, the Experience presents the blessing of hope as children are sponsored through Compassion's world-class child development program. When deployed in a parking lot, the structure allows guests to take an immersive tour through replicas of the homes, environments, and stories of two children who have been a part of Compassion's program. Each guest is equipped with an iPod Touch and headphones to guide them through the Experience. At the end of the tour, guests enter a World Impact Room where they can view photos and information about children of all ages who are waiting for sponsors. As God leads, guests have the opportunity to sponsor one of these precious children on the spot. Registration for the Experience is online at compassionexperience.com.
