We're tremendously grateful for all that our global alumni community does to support the law school. Wishing everyone wonderful holidays and a very happy New Year.
After introductory remarks by Berkeley Law Alumni Association President Karen Boyd '96, our graduates were sworn into the California State Bar by Justice J. Anthony Kline of the California 1st District Court of Appeal. United States District Court Judge Claudia Wilken ’75 then administered the oath to swear them into the bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. As the center's new executive director, Rachel Johnson-Farias ’12 plans to hit the ground running. Pressing issues include America’s teenage pregnancy rate being notably higher than in other developed countries, and women of color facing disproportionate barriers to obtaining health insurance, contraceptives, and quality care during pregnancy and childbirth. In this Q&A , Johnson-Farias discusses her vision for CRRJ, its upcoming challenges, and returning to her alma mater.
Sarah Morando Lakhani '19, Reynaldo Fuentes '19, and Emma Mclean-Riggs '17 will be funded for two years of focused public interest work.
