After introductory remarks by Berkeley Law Alumni Association President Karen Boyd '96, our graduates were sworn into the California State Bar by Justice J. Anthony Kline of the California 1st District Court of Appeal. United States District Court Judge Claudia Wilken ’75 then administered the oath to swear them into the bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

Jeff Bleich ’89
received the
Peter E. Haas Public Service Award
at Berkeley’s 2018 Winter Commencement this month. The Peter E. Haas Public Service Award recognizes an alumnus/a of UC Berkeley who has made significant voluntary contributions to the betterment of society within the United States. The university recognized Bleich for his work as the U.S. Ambassador to Australia, Special Counsel to President Obama, and as a lawyer.

Mark LeHocky ‘79
, a former litigator and general counsel, was selected to the 2019 edition of Best Lawyers in America for Mediation for the 4th consecutive year, and also joined the professional faculty at the Haas Graduate School of Business.
Daniela Raz ‘98
has joined Bentham IMF, a litigation funder, as an Investment Manager in the company’s New York office, where she will source and evaluate commercial litigation investment opportunities. She was previously a partner at litigation-only law firm Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP, and General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer for distressed asset investor LightRay Companies LLC.
Riyanka Roy Choudhury '18
is
now a fellow
at Stanford Law School's CodeX Center, one of the world's only legal technology center where lawyers and engineers work side by side to develop computational law. CodeX‘s emphasis is on the research and development of computational law — the branch of legal informatics concerned with the automation and mechanization of legal analysis.

is no longer teaching the tax seminar at Berkeley Law. But his award-winning "Cabaret: Holiday of Lights - Celebration of Music by Michael Antin" ran this month at the Brickhouse Theatre in North Hollywood.

has retired as executive vice president & general counsel of Penumbra, Inc., a medical technology company. Previously, he was executive vice president and general counsel at Waste Connections, Inc. and before that he was a partner at Shartsis Friese in San Francisco.
Latham & Watkins LLP recently promoted
Eyad F. Latif ‘08
to partner effective January 1, 2019. In the firm’s Dubai office, Latif is a member of the Corporate Department who represents clients in a variety of venture capital, emerging growth companies, M&A, private equity, and general corporate matters. He has advised a range of clients on transactions involving US, multinational, and Middle East-based companies across a range of industries, including energy, healthcare, and technology.
