With all the recent rain, our flowers, trees and lawns are flourishing, but so are the weeds! The UC Integrated Pest Management (IPM) site offers several tips on weed control, from hand cultivation to mulching to selective herbicides.

Question: 
I hear that worm "poop" will add nutrients to my soil. Can I buy it or better yet, make it? 
 
Answer:
Yes! While you can buy bags of worm "castings", it's more fun to create your own with a worm compost bin. 

We love helping fellow gardeners grow their own food. This video from the County of San Diego highlights how Master Gardeners help nurture green thumbs by working with San Diegans in community gardens all around the county.
