Middle School Social Studies

Grade 7
In order to celebrate the fine work our 7th grade class did during their immigration unit, students prepared dishes from a variety of nations (e.g. Sweden, Slovakia, Italy, Poland, Latvia, Japan), and brought them in to share with one another.

Grade 6
This fall, the sixth graders researched a variety of people and events from America's Founding Era, and created 2-minute performance pieces based on primary documents. This project stems from an invitation through the Gilder Lehrman Institute and Lin-Manuel Miranda. One winner will be chosen from Peabody and have the chance to receive an all expenses paid trip to New York and watch a Broadway performance of "Hamilton". Fingers are crossed!
Bring A Friend Day - RSVP by January 6

Have a friend who might be a good fit for Peabody? Peabody students in Grades 1st - 5th are invited to "Bring a Friend" to Peabody on January 21. Please email admissions by January 6 with the name, grade/school and parent contact/email information of the student that you’d like to invite. Spaces for visiting friends will be assigned first come, first served, to those students who have not visited BAF day before

Support the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank

Did you know that in our community there are 131,800 people who don’t know where or when their next meal will be, and that 1 in 8 children in our area suffer from hunger? Ms. Wynn’s Middle School Hunger Elective (Ronak, Ellena, Lila, Miles, Sahalia, Kes) is taking the extra step to create a food drive and fundraiser for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, BRAFB, serves an average of 106,000 people every month. From January 6 - 24, you will have the chance to help them and community by donating baby products such as diapers and baby food, and money. Every $1 you donate provides 4 whole meals for hungry people. Canned food donations and non-perishable food items are also greatly appreciated. Here is a list of the Food Bank’s “Most Needed Items”. Thank you!
