WOODY GUTHRIE ALL STAR TRIBUTE CONCERT 1970
After years of sleuthing, Nora Guthrie was able to track down and acquire this long-lost, raw concert film footage from the historic 1970 Hollywood Bowl concert. After transfering the unedited footage, Nora brought in producer 4-Time Emmy Award winner Jim Brown and multiple GRAMMY Award winner, producer Steve Rosenthal, to create this tremendous concert experience.
Although the concert took place more than 50 years ago, the message in the music matched with archival film footage creates a powerful statement for today.
The show features Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Country Joe McDonald, Richie Havens, Odetta, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, and others along with narration by Peter Fonda and Will Geer. House band includes members of Linda Ronstadt's band Swampwater and Ry Cooder.
The star-studded event was a fundraiser for the California chapter of the Committee to Combat Huntington's Disease, now known as the Hereditary Disease Foundation. In keeping with the original mission ALL proceeds from the sales of CD's and DVD's will benefit HDF.
Check local listings for complete schedule.
