Exercise Fastidious is a simulation exercise being run to investigate how prepared Australia is to respond to a detection of
Xylella fastidiosa in nursery, production and residential settings. Planning is underway by a committee of representatives from state and commonwealth governments, peak industry bodies and nursery production.
Exercise Fastidious will be held in Brisbane on 14-15 November 2018 and will include a mix of functional and discussion activities. The AOA is a Plant Health Australia Deed Signatory and has already confirmed participation in the exercise, ensuring the Australian olive industry is at the forefront of current Xylella research and situational preparedness.
We’ll report on the exercise and its outcomes in the December edition of Olivegrower & Processor.
