Mission
Preparing each student for a successful future.
Vision
A leader in academic success, dedicated to community priorities.

RMS Families,

Republic Middle School operates as an organization that focuses on continuously improving to best meet the needs of our students, families and employees. To do so, it is vital that we collect feedback from you, our stakeholders. In October we distributed a survey to our parents and community in an effort to determine areas of celebration for our building and our district as a whole, and also to identify areas that need improving.

Over the last few weeks we have been examining the results from this survey. Below you will see those aforementioned celebrations and opportunities for improvement (OFI). Also identified are action steps we have created for each opportunity for improvement in an effort to better meet your needs.

In addition to the summarized information below,  CLICK HERE  t o see the full results of the survey.

CELEBRATIONS
Celebration #1:
I know how well my student is doing in class. (4.29)
Reflection/notes:
This is an increase of .02 from the 2017-18 school year. Teachers are providing most of content and student achievement results through Canvas. Students are also conferencing once a week with Pride teachers about their grades and goals. Students are able to communicate their progress to parents more clearly.

Celebration #2:
My student's teacher(s) at this school is/are approachable and reachable. (4.06)
Reflection/notes:
This is an increase of .09 from the 2017-18 school year. This was an OFI last year but has improved through the use of electronic communication and consistent feedback from teachers.

Celebration #3:
The school encourages parents to be involved. (3.73)
Reflection/notes:
This is an increase of .19 from the 2017-18 school year. Although not above the 4.2 goal, we have seen significant gains with implementation of additional transitional supports for incoming 6th graders and the establishment of an RMS PTO.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT (OFI)
OFI #1:
My student's school celebrates students who achieve personal/school goals. (3.46)
Reflection/notes:
This is an increase of .01 from the 2017-18 school year.
Action Steps:
1) Students are receiving "leaderslips" when observed to be using one of the 7 Habits. Students are then eligible for prizes once they have turned in their "leaderslips".
2) A team of students has been developed to create, implement, and evaluate all student celebrations.
3) All student awards are communicated via newsletter and social media.

OFI #2:
School grounds are clean. (4.39)
Reflection/notes:
This is a decrease of .02 from the 2017-18 school year.

Action Steps:
1) In collaboration with the custodial department, a new system of independent cleaning procedures has been established. Each custodian has their own specialty and is tasked with completing those items that fall under their specialty.
2) Bi-monthly follow-up meetings are taking place with the lead custodian.

OFI #3:
The school building appears clean and well maintained. (4.29)
Reflection/notes:
Our score remained the same compared to the 2017-18 school year.

Action Steps:
1) Bi-monthly walkthroughs of the building will be conducted by administration to determine any maintenance needs
2) We have replaced the floors in the girls' front restroom and stalls in the boys' front restroom.

Thank you to those who took time to provide this vital feedback! If you have questions or concerns, please contact our building office at 732-3640.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable break!
