Councilmember Dennis Robertson is retiring from the City Council this month after 24 years of service, holding office first from 1988-1995 and again from 2004-2019. The City Council and Mayor honored Councilmember Robertson at the December 9 meeting withResolution 1979thanking him for his service to the Tukwila community.
Councilmember Robertson and his wife, Karen, have lived in the community since 1975. He got his start in public service by leading the Tukwila-McMicken Action Committee that worked on many initiatives including successful annexation to the City of Tukwila. He retired as an Information Systems Manager from Boeing but worked a wide variety of jobs ranging from driving taxi cabs to program management of computer system developments. He also served six years in the United States Air Force.
In his retirement, Councilmember Robertson plans to focus on quality family time and hobbies including woodworking and writing. When asked to comment, Dennis said, "It was a great 24 years. Thanks to everyone for letting me be a part of this City's wonderful government."
