Tukwila Parks & Recreation is gearing up for their community's annual giving program, the Spirit of Giving. The program provides toys and items of need to children and families who are homeless, low-income or in troubled situations.

Last year this program helped over 300 children. This year's goal is to help 350 or more children in Tukwila. The generosity of businesses, groups, and individuals will help provide warm clothing, important household necessities, engaging toys, books and games. Will you help us reach our goal to help Tukwila's children?

Our staff is here to help make this a positive experience, below are ways to become involved.

Distributing gifts and Volunteering: Program recipients are recommended by Tukwila School District employees and Tukwila's Human Services Department. Families receive a personal invitation to a special event held in December. At the event, parents and caregivers select toys, educational games, clothing, grocery gift cards, and basic household items. Kids are entertained with activities and treats. There are several opportunities for volunteering, either as an individual or as a group.  Volunteers are needed to help shop, work the December giving event, and much more.

Unwrapped Items: Donate new, unwrapped items for children or teens and their families. Blankets, coats, mittens, hats, toys, games, and basic household items are all needed. Our staff can provide a list of the most requested items to help with shopping efforts.

Host a Toy, Food or Blanket Drive: Our staff can provide a collection bin, promotional materials, and coordinate regular pick-ups.

Donate Cash or Gift Cards: Too busy to shop? Contribute cash or store gift cards and leave the shopping to us - we have several volunteers who love shopping. We even have some brave black Friday and cyber Monday shoppers to help make your dollars stretch. Contact us to see how you can make cash donations tax deductible.
