More information will be posted in the kindergarten section of our website in the coming weeks!

Please do not register your 2020-21 kindergartner prior to Jan. 6, 2020!

Flexible Instructional Day (FID) Program
North Hills will be ready to participate in Pennsylvania’s Flexible Instructional Day program when the second semester begins on Jan. 13. A Flexible Instructional Day or FID can be used in place of a snow day or other unplanned school closure and eliminate the need for a make-up day because students perform classwork at home.

However, when classes are cancelled, it doesn’t automatically mean a flexible instructional day will be used. Whether or not to call a FID will be decided when the decision is made to cancel school, and families will be notified at the same time through the same means of communication we currently use: phone calls, texts, emails, website, app, social media, TV stations, etc.

An overview with demonstrations was presented to the school board at their meeting earlier this month. Watch that portion of the meeting here.

Program details include:
  • Students must submit an online attendance to confirm participation. If the form cannot be submitted online, they must call their school. Failure to do either will result in an absence.
  • Students should complete their assignments on the FID but will have up to three days to submit their work.
  • Students should contact their teacher via email or Google Classroom with any questions or concerns. Teachers will respond to all messages within 30 minutes during normal school hours on the FID.

Complete details of the program are available online.
