Productive First Week Back!
Our first week back in Virginia Beach has been productive and my team and I have truly hit the ground running. The 2019 General Assembly session was extraordinarily busy and I have been looking forward to being back in Virginia Beach. However, being back in the district has not been a break by any means. Between business meetings, speaking at community events, discussing strategy with my new campaign manager Peter Finocchio, and knocking doors with the team on our first Super Saturday, I've been busier than ever!
Catching up with Virginia Beach's Filipino American Community
Last week I attended the monthly meeting of the Filipino American Community Action Group (Fil-Am CAG). Filipino Americans are a large and vibrant presence in Virginia Beach and I have been happy to have many friends and supporters in this community. It was an honor to be able to speak to this awesome group and provide an update on this year's General Assembly session.
First Super Saturday a Success!
As my team likes to say, Saturdays are for the doors. This weekend we had our first Super Saturday. With our energetic volunteers throughout the day, we were able to contact several hundred voters in the 84th District. I enjoyed getting out there as well and had great conversations with constituents. After we wrapped up, we returned to the office for dinner and some social fun.
New Campaign Manager a Familiar Face
My new Campaign Manager is a familiar face to many in the District and throughout the Commonwealth. Peter Finocchio was Ed Gillespie's Regional Field Director for the Hampton Roads area in 2017. After that cycle, he moved to Massachusetts where he was Deputy Statewide Field Director for the successful reelection campaign of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, the Republican Governor of a deeply blue state who also has the distinction of being America's most popular governor. Peter has worked on several other campaigns over the years, including for former Congresswoman Barbara Comstock and former Speaker Bill Howell.
Just as interesting, Peter graduated from the University of Virginia with a double major in history and government and a classics minor with a Latin concentration. Between UVA basketball and attempting to teach Chelle and I Latin in the evenings, he keeps a full schedule.
I know with Peter at the helm, not only is my campaign in good hands, but we're going to have a lot of fun!
