Welcome to the Boston Children's Foundation Newsletter!

We here at Boston Children’s Foundation wish you all a most Happy and Peaceful Holiday Season, filled with family, friends, good cheer and laughter!

We are pleased to send you our first newsletter, which will keep our community up to date on current offerings and events.

The Boston Children’s Foundation (BCF), founded by Robert Macy and Dicki Johnson Macy, is committed to ending the trauma that perpetuates a culture of fear, maladaptation and violence by turning youth’s natural energy towards healing activities, social empathy and positive relationships.

BCF Spotlight: Alicia Brewster
Alicia Brewster trained in Rainbowdance as a graduate-level intern for Boston Children's Foundation in the academic year of 2011-2012. After her graduation, Alicia moved to California and began working at Napa State Hospital in 2015 as a Dance/Movement Therapist.

Last year she was promoted to the role of supervisor, guiding 11 other rehabilitation therapists specializing in Dance/Movement, Music, Art, and Recreational therapies.
Alicia was also accepted as a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist this year.

Remembering the benefits of Duncan Dance and desiring her own creative outlet, Alicia founded Bay Area Dancers in 2016. This company is comprised of working professionals who perform pieces including tap, hip hop, modern, and Bollywood styles. Personally, Alicia and her husband, Brandon, adopted two daughters earlier this year, beginning a new personal adventure for Alicia and her family. The family has enjoyed connecting with each other by engaging in Rainbowdance together.
New Beginnings
This past summer was a time of transition and new experiences for the BCF team.

Jennifer Mueller , who was with BCF for 6 years, stepped down from the Assistant Director position to pursue new experiences in Hawaii. She hopes to use Rainbowdance there and extend its impact.
Over the summer, Dicki Johnson Macy and Robert Macy traveled to Tonga to participate in a "Continuum" training with fellow Dance/Movement Therapist Amber Grey. In this program, participants swim with humpback whales and their babies, experiencing the connection between humans and these great creatures and learning how the whales' movements can influence our own healing and therapeutic practices. This trip brought valuable new insights and experiences to BCF's work and mission.
Rachel Assaf , who joined the BCF team in 2016 following her internship there, stepped into the Assistant Director/Director of Clinical Internships role. She hopes to continue in Jennifer's footsteps and continue realizing the BCF mission and vision.

Cara Spilsbury is BCF's intern this year. She has been trained in Rainbowdance and assists in running groups as well as administrative tasks in the office. BCF is excited to have her as part of the team!

Erin Tower has been involved with BCF since 2013, following her Advanced Rainbowdance Training. She is excited to join the BCF team as a Consulting Clinician.

Jessica Cruz interned with BCF in 2015 and fell in love with their philosophy and practice. She is also excited to be joining the team as a Consulting Clinician.
New Basic Rainbowdance Trainees
Did you know that BCF holds biannual Basic Rainbowdance Trainings? The weekend of November 30 and December 1, Dicki guided 13 graduate level students and clinicians in this experiential training, teaching the structure and theory behind Rainbowdance. Trainees were local, national, and international, including two individuals from Montana and Taiwan!  Congratulations to all!
