SASEAS families,
Lent has begun. During this time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving we are challenging everyone to “Take 5.” - 1. Read Scripture for 5 minutes. 2. Take 5 minutes for Silence. 3. Pray for 5 people. 4. Smile at 5 people. 5. Name 5 things you are Grateful for. We will be doing this at school and this can be a great way to help your family’s Lenten journey be fruitful and forever leave an impact!
2019 – 2020 school year registration is ongoing
. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call the school office
.
Financial assistance is still available.
We received word from the Archdiocese that our school families were awarded over $27,000 through their
Tuition Support Grants
and letters were mailed to families. We are working through the process of awarding our local support.
The annual
Iowa Assessment
(grades 3-7) and
Cognitive Abilities Test
(grades 2 and 5) is under way and is going very well. St. Andrew campus will be finished testing on Friday and Seton campus will be finished after Monday. We will then begin make up testing. All testing must be completed before students go on spring break.
THANK YOU for a fantastic

Preschool News
Our 3-year-old classes are learning about Frogs this week. They are discovering the life cycle of the frog and sequencing it in science. They are mixing the colors blue and yellow to make green, and making a paper plate frog in art. They are using lacing cards in math, and in Language Arts their letter this week is “R”. In religion they are learning “I Can Feel” as they discuss the emotions God has given them.
In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ March 2
nd
birthday, the theme in our four-year-old classes is “Dr. Seuss”. They are having a lot of fun making “Green Eggs and Ham” marble paintings and an “Oh the places you’ll go” hot air balloon in art. Their letter this week is “R” and the sight word is “at”. In language arts they will practice “at” family rhyming words, and in math they are reviewing the number “3”, doing some “Truffula Tree” counting, and “One Fish, Two Fish” addition. The 4s are doing a “Stack the Cat’s Hat” STEM activity in science using index cards and red plastic cups. The religion lesson this week is “Lent” and they will also talk about Ash Wednesday.
The theme in the Pre-K class is also “Dr. Seuss”. Each day this week they will focus on a different Dr. Seuss book. In art they are making “Cat in the Hat” portraits. In addition to learning the letter “S” and the sight word “by”, they are doing “Green Eggs and Ham” word matching in Language arts. In math they are counting rainbow goldfish in a 10 frame while focusing on the numbers 10-20. In religion they are learning that Lent is good, and will discuss the meaning of Lent and what Catholics do during the season of Lent.
Preschool Open Registration is underway. Space is still available in some of our morning sessions and most of our afternoon sessions. If you would like a registration packet for an incoming three, four, or five-year-old please contact the Preschool office at (513) 575-9900.
