The MSU College of Music seeks instructors to teach special topics courses in music entrepreneurship and music career development in the fall, spring and summer semesters. These positions will be filled per course/per semester, on an as needed basis. Applicants in this pool are reviewed when the program has an immediate need to fill a vacancy as needed within two years to begin as early as May 2019.

Impression 5 Science Center is hiring a full-time Creative Communicator. Job responsibilities include monitoring and managing Impression 5 social media channels, maintaining their website, updating existing print communications and more. 

WKAR is seeking a full-time Morning Edition Producer/AnchorAs the producer and local anchor for 'Morning Edition,' this person would be responsible for producing and hosting local segments between 5:00 -11:00 a.m. on two local NPR stations. This person will work closely with the station manager, digital news director, other program hosts, reporters and student interns.

The College of Arts & Letters (CAL) at Michigan State University invites applications for the position of Program Director of Arts & Cultural Management and Museum Studies, tenure system (academic year appointment). The Arts & Cultural Management and Museum Studies Program includes two undergraduate minors and a two-year M.A. program. 

MSU Advancement and Marketing Department is seeking a full-time Publications Design Coordinator. This position coordinates the activities and oversees development of graphic art, design and production for websites, publications and multi-media projects associated with the strategic marketing directives of University Advancement.The successful candidate will be highly creative with excellent technical design skills and proficient in the development of creative briefs and production management.

Conferences, Classes and Creative Opportunities


The East Lansing Art Festival is a juried fine art festival, consistently ranked in the Sunshine Artists Magazine's "Top 200" fine art and craft shows. The East Lansing Art Festival provides an exhibition and marketplace opportunity for artists who create original works of art. Their Emerging Artist program encourages future art festival exhibitors by giving up-and-coming artists an opportunity to be awarded free space to exhibit among seasoned artists in a fine art festival setting.

Join over  300 juried fine artists and crafters  as they fill the streets of historic Downtown Muskegon.  The Lakeshore Art Festival  is a unique mix of arts, crafts, food and family fun in historic downtown Muskegon. Guests will enjoy a juried fine art and craft fair, as well as vibrant streets brimming with unique artisan food products, children's activities, entertainment and more! Sign up to become a craft vendor by Feb. 1, 2019.

The Arts Council facilitates eight different grants in six grant programs that are adjusted or updated regularly. In order to make sure you know what changes may have occurred to a grant program, or what funding options are currently available, Meghan Martin is available for individual grant consultations or at an open-group grant consultation. The first open-group consultation is taking place at MI Blue Owl Coffee on Jan. 3.

Abrams Planetarium director, Shannon Schmoll will walk attendees through the ins and outs of photographing work for the planetarium dome in a smARTS workshop Jan. 22.  Abrams Planetarium often uses these photographs for virtual tours of various places, but with s ome creativity and standard photo-manipulation techniques, those environments can become works of art. In this workshop, y ou will learn about various 360-degree cameras; see how you can use the planetarium software to place photos on to the dome; and experiment with the Planetarium's cameras.

Starlight Dinner Theatre announces auditions to fill specific roles for their upcoming production of "On Golden Pond," directed by Linda Granger. Auditions for the roles of Chelsea, Bill and Ethel will take place Jan. 6 and 7. Contact the director for a perusal script.

TZIPAC is proud to celebrate the magic of black and white photography with the 7th Annual Zebra Awards. They are seeking submissions of black and white photography. The Zebra Awards is open to any photographers who are 18 years and over. The competition will not distinguish between professionals and non-professionals.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan is excited to announce the maiden 2019 MLK Holiday Art Contest. This event will be hosted at and co-sponsored by the MSU Broad Art Museum. Please encourage students in categories (6th-12th grades) to submit a photographic rendering of their finished art submission for judging. Up to 20 select art exhibits will be displayed at the MSU Broad Art Museum from Jan. 15 - Jan. 22. Submissions need to be received by Jan. 4.

NightVisions VII is an art exhibition that celebrates the beauty of the night sky and seeks to reopen our positive connections to the natural night, and to bridge its artistic and scientific perceptions. The exhibition is hosted at the Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff, AZ. This is an international, juried, biennial exhibition open to all artists 18 years of age or older, and to artwork in any media; 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, poetry, photography, video, installation, etc. The exhibition is produced by the Flagstaff Arts Council in partnership with the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition.

Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center is seeking collegiate artists to participate in the 2019 Michigan Collegiate Art Exhibition. Artworks of all medias are eligible; including but not limited to: paintings, sculpture, mixed media, photography, graphic design, installations, short film and video games. Deadline to enter is Feb. 1.

The VSA Playwright Discovery Award Program is currently seeking applicants. Young writers with disabilities and collaborative groups that include students with disabilities, grades 6-12, are invited to explore the disability experience through the art of writing for performance-in the form of plays, screenplays or music theater.  Writers are encouraged to craft short (10-minute) works from their own experiences and observations in the style of realism, through the creation of fictional characters and settings or writing metaphorically or abstractly about the disability experience.

Learn how changing the messenger changes the message and what you can do to create a culture of community outreach at your arts organization in a webinar hosted by ArtsMidwest and Metropolitan Group through an initiative called Creating Connection. Creating Connection in Action will take place on Jan. 14.
