News Release - Chatter Pediatric is a finalist for the 2018 Governor's Choice Project of the Year - Urban Community and Williston's Main Street Infrastructure Revitalization is a finalist for the 2018 Governor's Choice Community Development Award. The winners will be announced at the Economic Development Association of North Dakota Fall Conference on Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the Grand Hotel in Minot.

Williston Economic Development - 1 Million Cups Williston recently featured a Glasgow business that is considering a second location in Williston. Ben and Connie Boreson own Busted Knuckle Brewery, a popular gathering place located in Ben's former radiator shop on Main Street in Downtown Glasgow. Connie explained how they decided to give the longtime garage a new purpose. "It all started about 7 to 8 years ago with a Mr. Beer kit," said Connie. "He (Ben) had been a mechanic for 30 years, but he had some success with that Mr. Beer kit." Read More

ND's Oil and Gas Production continues to Climb

State officials announced North Dakota pumped out more than 1.291 million barrels of oil a day in August compared to the previous month's production of more than 1.269 million barrels a day. |
Minot Daily News - Lynn Helms, director of the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources, reported Oct. 12 the state pumped out more than 1.291 million barrels of oil a day in August compared to the previous month's production of more than 1.269 million barrels a day. Minot Daily News - Scott Reid, of Nabors Drilling, has led Nabors in North Dakota throughout the growth of the Bakken. A native of Kenmare, Reid is the area manager for Nabors Drilling in Williston and manages operations in North Dakota and Montana. He has worked in the drilling industry for 35 years. The North Dakota Petroleum Council (NDPC) presented Reid with the Distinguished Leader Award at their annual meeting in Fargo on Sept. 25. Read More |

Williston Public Schools consider New Funding Options for Buildings

Williston Herald - With one more public meeting left before members will finalize a proposal for a January bond referendum, the Williston Public School District No. 1 board is looking at new, more creative options to pay for new schools. On Tuesday, board members unveiled four new options for schools and also decided that one option - a plan estimated at $37.5 million that would build one new elementary school - wasn't going to work. "People did not like that, resoundingly, because it does not get us ahead," school board President Joanna Baltes said. Read More |

McKenzie County Farmer - After two years of studying enrollment numbers, the McKenzie County Public School District No. 1 has pulled the trigger on constructing a new elementary school in Watford City. "Here we go again," stated Steve Holen, district superintendent, following the board's decision on Monday, Oct. 8. Roundup - The Promiseland Project kicked off its nationwide America's Front Porch event in Watford City on October 14. The event held three discussion panels focusing on education, workforce development and small businesses. The event also included performaces by Tigerlily and MamaDear.

Trenton, Williston Projects seek APUC Grants

News Release - A Williston and Trenton project are seeking funds from the North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission (APUC). The group will review funding requests for six projects totaling $232,771 at its quarterly meeting Nov. 15 in Grand Forks. NDSU Williston Research Center (Williston) is requesting $18,374 to research a new perennial crop that can be harvested as a high-value grain and cut for high-quality forage in the same year while Rivers Edge Energy (Trenton) is requesting $88,702 to market a new 25 million-gallon ethanol facility in Trenton. Dickinson Press - Stark Development Corporation is planning to move into downtown Dickinson's historic Elks Building, on the corner of First Street and First Avenue. SDC Board President T.J. Herauf said the move would benefit the SDC and its efforts. "We had different places we could go and some were cheaper. We just thought that this was the best thing for us to do," he said.
