RBES Parent Survey - Your Input is Needed!
Gwinnett County Public Schools has developed an accountability system for improving schools called the Results-Based Evaluation System (RBES). School accountability reports provide consolidated information on a school's effectiveness based on multiple measures and student characteristics.

Parents have an opportunity to provide valuable input by completing the RBES Parent Survey. This is a reminder that the administration window for the RBES Parent Survey begins soon. Please note the following:

Survey Administration Window
October 22 through November 16

Survey Formats
Available in English or Spanish in the following formats:

A School-Parent Compact is a written commitment describing how all members of a school community (parents, staff, and students) agree to share responsibility for student learning. The Compact helps bridge the learning connection between school and home. Discovery is committed to providing opportunities for parents to engage in parent workshops, volunteering, observations and parent-teacher conferences.

Please review the School-Parent Compact by clicking HERE

Please print, sign and return the Compact Cover Page by October 26th. All students should return a parent compact cover page. Please return the compact to the Parent Center located within the Discovery Media Center.

Discovery High School is implementing a new visitor management system starting on October 22, 2018. The visitor management system will require visitors to be “buzzed” into the school. The purpose for the Visitor Management System  “VMS” is to provide greater security of all exits and entrances throughout the building.

Please keep the following in mind as we transition to the VMS system and provide greater security for our students, staff, and visitors:
  • All visitors/guests are to enter the building through the main entrance of the school on Old Norcross Rd. Visitors attempting to enter from Riverside Pkwy will be redirected to the front of the school.
  • Designated entrances will be open and allow students to enter and leave the school during normal arrival, as well as during class change times only.
  • Once the school day begins, all doors will be locked. Visitors will need to be buzzed into the building using the VMS keypad located on the wall near the far left-hand doors at the front of the school.
  • Upon being buzzed into the school, a staff member will ask how they can help you. Please clearly state your name and the purpose of your visit (checking out your student, meeting with a counselor, dropping something off, etc).
  • Once access has been granted, you will report directly to the kiosk to check-in and obtain a visitor pass.A staff member will come and escort you to your destination, if applicable.
  • Once you have concluded your visit, please return to the kiosk to check-out.

Your support in the ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and security of our schools is appreciated.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
