Recovery Works!
Red Ribbon Campaign
October 23-30, 2018

This October, Chester County’s Department of Drug & Alcohol Services is recognizing the Red Ribbon Campaign, which is sponsored by National Family Partnership. The campaign aims to increase community awareness on drugs. According to National Family Partnership, the campaign was originally started in 1985 as a response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique (Kiki) Camarena. Angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America.

PRO-ACT

Pennsylvania Recovery Organization - Achieving Community Together (PRO-ACT) works to reduce the stigma of addiction, ensure the availability of adequate treatment and recovery support services, and to influence public opinion and policy regarding the value of recovery. Each month PRO-ACT coordinates several events, support group, and educational programs.

What's Hiding in Your Medicine Cabinet?

With Halloween approaching, it is a good time to talk about medication safety. You may ask, "why?". The reason being many medications can potentially look and even taste like candy to children. Therefore, it is important to keep medication safety in mind. Below are some safety tips:

-Dispose of unneeded or expired medications at a safe location such as a medication collection site.

-Keep medications in a secure location such as a pill pod or locked cabinet.

-Never share prescribed medication with family or friends, even if they are experiencing the same symptoms as you.
