Greetings from the PTO!

We can't believe how fast the first half of the year has flown by. It has been nice to see how the parents are utilizing Heilicher Hallway Chat on Facebook. It's a great resource for parent questions. Please join if you haven't already.

This month we had so much fun getting together for the Parent  Hanukah party. We had an amazing turnout with lots of laughter and  latkes . Hoping this will become a tradition each year.

Starting in January we have several more fun family and student events:
Saturday, January 12, Saturday night Middle School Dance, 7-10 p.m. (Volunteers Needed)
Saturday, January 19, Lower School Movie Night, 6:30-9 p.m.
Monday, January 21, 7:30-8:15 a.m. PTO Donuts and Coffee before the Martin Luther King Program (Volunteers Needed)

Save the date....
Thursday, March 14: The Heilicher Annual Benefit
Another a great opportunity to volunteer and give back to the school with your time!

Have a wonderful Winter Break!

Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered this year. Please check out the volunteer opportunities for January through June. We hope that each family will get involved so we can create a greater sense of community and support the education of our kids. MLK Day Observance

Heilicher proudly convenes on MLK Day ( Monday, January 21 ), devoted to studying the life and impact of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year our theme is civil rights through the lens of how people in the United States got the right to vote. We're adding a parent-specific component in the morning and some other options for parents to participate in during the day.

Join us for MLK Day events:

7:30-8:45 a.m.: Heilicher Family Breakfast (complimentary, sponsored by the PTO).
Students head to classrooms at 8 a.m.

8 a.m.: Pastor Lawrence T. Richardson, speaking with parents on being Black in Minnesota
This will overlap with the service project. You are welcome to join the service project in progress.

8:30-9:30 a.m.: Heilicher Family Service Project in  the Manny Fingerhut Auditorium, preparing  packages for PRISM food shelf in partnership with  Jewish Family and Children's Service of Minneapolis (JFCS).

2:45-3:15 p.m.: The school community will end our day listening to MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech and the choir will also sing.

You can help us collect supplies for this program by purchasing one of the items listed here. We will need these items by or before  January 10 . All items can be delivered to Ryan Bradley's office (Room M25).
