2019 WR Legislative Day

January 23-24

Registration for 2019 Legislative Day is now open!

Join us for two amazing days of defending our industry in Olympia while enjoying a networking opportunity with hundreds of other REALTORS® from across the state.

Legislative Day is Thursday, January 24th but the full event actually spans two days.

Wednesday, January 23rd is "Committee Day", where members discuss important association business and local and statewide industry trends.

The shape of the association and how we advocate on the Hill is often formed in many of these meetings!

If you're interested in getting involved, this is the place to do it.

Go directly to the 2019 Legislative Day information and registration page, online here:

SAR member Judy Flemmer, EXIT Real Estate Professionals, was a first-time attendee at last year's Legislative Day in Olympia.

"What I was so impressed with was the power that REALTORS have. I had no idea that we actually are the lobbyists and can go and talk with the senators and tell them what the industry needs."

2019 Economic Outlook

Single-family homes sales activity is on track to outpace 2017's clip slightly.

A Realtors association leader says about 8,200 homes will be sold through the Spokane Multiple Listing Service this year, compared with 8,135 home sales in 2017.

Home sales might increase in 2019, but a big jump isn't expected.

While that market is growing slowly, home prices are still climbing steeply.

The median sale price in Spokane County this year was $235,000 through the first 11 months of the year, up 11 percent compared with a median price of $210,000 in the year-earlier period.

The number of homes for sale remains low, and prices are expected to increase by another 6 percent to 8 percent next year.

The Voice for Real Estate

NEW!

NAR leaders met with the FBI on wire fraud in home sale transactions.

REALTORS® won on two federal issues at the end of 2018: a revamped Waters of the U.S. rule that provides the kind of clarity that NAR sought, and a provision in a new farm law that keeps the rural population threshold at 35,000 people.

That and other NAR-backed provisions ensure no disruption for people looking to federally backed Rural Housing Service mortgage financing to get into a home.

Also, NAR released a report showing the extent to which REALTORS® are involved in their community.

NAR also provides an economic outlook going into 2019.
